Well actually I won't get the slate...reason for it is I don't like HP anymore...

I bought one of those cool mini-laptops tx2000 and one for a friend a month apart from each other, theirs being first(its the laptops that fold and make a touchscreen tablet)..it had those faulty chipsets from nvidia the fried but many manufacturers did not want returns so they increased the fan speeds on the laptops so that they last long enough to make it to warranty...a few month after warranty ends, my friends laptop fries...ok it happens...1 month later mien fries as well..>.> FML lol

So yeah I don't like HP anymore >.>

There might be multiple versions just like the ipad has different versions. That said its Android..not windows..so 512mb ram is same as 1gb since the OS is light.

The java may not be so good now..but google is teaming up with Esmeratic (forgot their new name) to make the next version of java a lot more efficient and better.

Edit:

And to add Ubuntu is heavier then Android in ram usage, not to mention remember this is a tablet most likely for multimedia use, entertainment, GPS, video call and etc...not meant to be a laptop replacement.
