Steve's Imagio Manila ROM v1.2

Hello all,

This is my first cut at making a ROM that I feel good about distributing. This is for the Imagio and is setup for VZW provisioning.

Components in the 21904 Build:

21904 SYS
Manila 2.5.2012
FB and Twitter Manila tabs
MS SMS Interface (Not using HTC Messaging Client at all)
Arcsoft 5.2.12.62 for VZW
Sprint WM 6.5 Phone Canvas
FB Mobile Application
Office 2010
Cookie Hometab 1.71
HTC Menu/Message/Notification Enhancements for Manila
Updated Camera/FM Radio/Audio Mgr/Volume Control Apps
RSS Hub/RDP Client/Modem Link/Internet Sharing
All the normal bells and whistles

Link to the rar is listed here: http://www.4shared.com/file/7cbgCoGI...c_-_21904.html

Components in the 23569 Build:

23569 SYS
Manila 2.5.2012
FB and Twitter Manila tabs
MS SMS Interface (Not using HTC Messaging Client at all)
Arcsoft 5.2.12.62 for VZW
Sprint WM 6.5 Phone Canvas
FB Mobile Application
Office 2010
Cookie Hometab 1.71
HTC Menu/Message/Notification Enhancements for Manila
Updated Camera/FM Radio/Audio Mgr/Volume Control Apps
RSS Hub/RDP Client/Modem Link/Internet Sharing
All the normal bells and whistles

Link to the rar is listed here: http://www.4shared.com/file/Pj-mU4bh...c_-_23569.html

Change Log:

1) v1.0 - first cut at 21903 and 23563 ROMs using stock 21874 Whitestone Core.
2) v1.0a - fixed SMS send issue by eliminating Outlook Enhancement.
3) v1.0b - fixed Manila cab not found issue in 21903 ROM.
4) v1.0c - updated both ROMs so no need to calibrate screen, set date/time, etc.
5) v1.1 - updated both ROMs with substantially smaller 21874 Core, eliminating unneeded items.
6) v1.1a - restored mxip file that was missing in 21903 build.
7) v1.1b - updated 21903 and 23563 ROMs with Modem Link functionality.
8) v1.1c - core cleanup and addition of camcorder shortcut.
9) v1.1d - restored Notes and Tasks icons, fixed Modem Link issue, and addtl core cleanup.
10) v1.1e - added Office 2010.
11) v1.2 - 21904 and 23569 based ROMs.
12) v1.2a - added Windows Marketplace, updated long press end key to include power off option, added Voice Command from SYS builds, added new HTC Settings app to force all settings changes to be done from Settings tab.
13) v1.2b - added RSS Hub, RDP client, Adobe Acrobat Reader, and new black background.

Big props to all the people at PPCK, especially JooJooBee666, GGuruUSA, and JustPCTech. Without them this would not be happening. Thanks to Co0kieMonster over at XDA for the amazing Manila Hometab add-in. I have not found one that operates better.

Be aware that this ROM is a very basic ROM. I do not include apps. I leave those decisions up to the individual based on their tastes. My goal is to produce a basic ROM that is highly stable, has alot of available memory, and is a terrific launching off point for those new to the ROM world. In future builds I will be including Sashimi, which is the best cab installer I have had the pleasure to use. This will make it extremely easy to add apps after the fact.

I have alot more to do with this whole build. Alot more cleanup work can be done in the core, as I am using a stock 21874 core. More improvements on the way. Please let me know if this is working for you. You can PM me here, or email to spetrillo@mail2web.com.

Thanks,
Steve

Ok, thanks. And i really love that you aren't using htc messaging. Its really small, and hard to read.

Do you get a dialog when the device boots the first time to enter a UserName and Pswd? If so it should be yourcellnumber@vzw3g.com with a pswd of vzw. See if that clears the SMS issue.

Ill try that. I put a different user name and password in. Ill let you know.

No, it didn't work. It's not even trying to send it. The button doesn't do anything. Its not failing or anything. It's like the send button doesn't work.
And also..when I inserted a picture, it changed from the little mail envelope that you hit to send it, to the words "send" and it did send it. Yes, i can send picture messages, but not text messages.

WELL HELL...ITS WORKING NOW...NOT SURE WHATS GOING ON.
AND NOW ITS NOT.......

It seems that when the envelope shows up is when it doesn't work. That is bc the HTC Message Enhancement is in place. I have taken that out but still seeing the envelope, so its something else.

I have done a couple of test builds and am getting close to rectifying the issue. I am glad MMS is working, as it should since Arcsoft is included.

Runs good , plenty of free memory.
Good idea letting users add their own app .cabs.

How do you like your Incredible???? lol

I agree...I dont want to be in the business of updating apps. Everyone has their own tastes in apps they want. I am in the business of creating a ROM that is fast, stable, and uses all the latest OS componentry.

Yeah , I really hated the roms that I had to try to get rid of so many apps I never use, just so much wasted memory. That's why I liked kitchens so much.

I really like my Incredible , it is the first HTC phone that I have used that works the way it should . Everything just works right ,nothing really needs to be changed. No lags , freezes , plenty of speed and memory. With the 2.2 update there will be even more speed and memory. Not to mention thousands of apps.

Anyway , this is a good rom you have here and I will check for updates.

My wife's Incredible taking forever to ship. they're so back-ordered.
How does this ROM compare to mycleanimagio in terms of stability? anyone using it with live mail? no issues with freezing up?

VZW 's CEO said the backed up delivery dates are due to parts shortages.
They are out of the wvga screens. He said they sold 100,000 phones the first 2 days and that took them by surprise .

This rom was stable and did not freeze up. Lots of free memory. Using hotmail, works fine.

Sorry. Just a little more info needed. Do I need to install latest MyPhone, Live, and total Commanader. Also does it have wifi sharing in the comm manager?

It sounds promising.

It is the basic rom , thus so much free memory. You will need to add your .cabs to have the apps you want. Kind of like a kitchen.

Exactly. My mission, unlike alot of others with ROMs here, is to provide the most stable basic ROM I can. I have alot of changes coming that will increase stability, and make addtl memory available to apps. I do not want to be in the app business since people have their own tastes. I leave that to you. I will say this. My next ROM will have Sashimi cooked into the ROM, so you will have a tool that can automate the installation of apps. I have been using Sashimi for a long time and absolutely love it.

Changes will be delayed as I lost my external hdd that contained my kitchen, etc. I am working on putting the pieces back together, so I do not expect a long delay. I just want to set everyone's expectations properly. I am going to move the existing ROM to a diff sharing site, so you can get better access to it. I will be completing this today.

Thanks for the initial feedback. You guys have been nice to provide it to me. As stated in the first post this is my first shot out of the gate, but I am very hopeful I can provide a quality ROM that everyone can use.

As always you can PM me with ideas here, email me at spetrillo@mail2web.com, or come to PPCKitchen.org. You will find some of the best WinMo minds I have had the pleasure to work with.

Thanks,
Steve

This is a basic ROM. I am using a basic black gloss theme. Nothing too fancy, as I want to live by the KISS principle. I know there are alot of themes out there, and the people who have developed them have spent their life blood putting them together. I would look into something you like and that can be an add-on.

Once I get my external hdd back in order I will pop up a couple of screenshots.

I am working on porting Android over to the Imagio myself. Its a great learning exercise, and I have met some of the dev people who are doing the TP2/Topaz/Blackstone GSM/CDMA Android dev. I have high hopes for Android but its still has to go aways in terms of matching the maturity of WinMo.

Re: Steve's Imagio Manila ROM v1.0

Steve -I am using your rom. I really enjoy it. It is very stable. I here so much about 6.5.x versions crashing and freezing that I was really leary of giving it a try. But I haven't had any of those issues with this Rom. So thanks a bunch.

Thanks for the reply to my email (about setting up data). I got it. Perhaps you could update your first post with a couple of things (if you want to - it is your thread).

1. The data set up - it can be ignored. There might be some "type A" people like me that are wondering if they will not be able to connect without filling in the blanks.

2. I was also surprised when that there was no Office Suite. I don't really use it that much but for whatever reason I like to have it (like I said - type A personality). You may want to give people a heads up. Fortunately I found a .cab for the 2007 Office and was able to update to 2010 via the marketplace.

Also - I use Modem Link (in the Windows directory) to connect my phone as a modem (with VZ Access Manager). That does not seem to function with your rom. I will give it a few more tries - but I was wondering if there was anything you knew about that (if you have any idea what I am talking about).

thanks again.

Back in Business

Morning all,

Well I am back in business and do apologize for the delay. Losing a hdd can be a traumatic experience. I will answer all your questions as we go along.

First thing is there is a new link on the first post for the current ROM. If you had trouble in the past getting it please try again with the new link.

As always comments/suggestions are welcome.

Thanks,
Steve

Thanks Steve. Modem Link is the only issue I am having with the Rom. Perhaps there are some drivers missing? I have no idea really.

I had to do a hard reset yesterday. Not because of your rom -I think I installed something I shouldn't have. I reinstalled your rom though bc I like the fact that it does not come with a bunch of stuff already on it. I don't like to have apps cooked into a rom that are always getting updates (Bing for example).

6.5.x is a lot easier to work with (is this build 6.5.3 or 6.5.5?). Great job.

Ok when you connect your Imagio to your PC via usb cable do you get a dialog that has 3 options? Normally you pick the top one, which is Activesync. Do you see a third option called Internet Sharing? If so select this and it should install some software on your PC, but then should activate the modem link and you should be connected to the modem on your Imagio.

I'm having the same problem Steve. I tried to run the rom update utility again, and the same error message. Jbh00jh, you can run another rom until he gets the problem fixed. Active sync will find it, and allow you to put another rom on it.

Ok - so yes - I do get the 3 options. I can connect to the internet with the internet sharing option.

But we may not be on the same page. If you never use Modem Link then it may be hard to explain (or maybe you understand and I just don't). In the Windows directory there is Modem Link.lnk. If you hit that it brings up a program that is entirely different then the program you get with USB to PC.

I pay Verizon $30 a month for 5G of data for phone as modem. I do that bc I am afraid they will see my data usage with the CM Wifi and bust me. So Verizon offers a program for my desktop called VZ Access Manager. I run Modem Link. Plug in via USB. Run VZ Access and then connect to the web. Well, now I only get an error.

"Connection failed - there was a hardware failure in the modem (or other connecting device) error 692."

So Internet Sharing option works. Modem Link does not (and yes I plugged in the USB hit the 3rd option etc.) I know Modem Link works on at least one custom rom (MyCleanImagio).

Any ways - if you can think of something - great. If not - say la vi (or however you spell it).

Oh yeah - is there way to place the CHTLockScreen on one of my quicklinks? I tried DeviceLock.exe but that was the stock one. I know you can hit Menu\Lockscreen, but it takes like 10 minutes for the menu to scroll up.

thanks.
