Is there a way to disable weather animation on home screen in Manila 2.1 ROM?

I am finding some reg keys on XDA but not sure if they apply to all ROMs; seems like some devices have their own "fixes"...

EDIT: Turns out I just needed to change the Home wallapper manually to an older one and that seems to have done it.

Next thing: how to edit the Internet tab... I want to remove a bunch of stuff, put new stuff in and make IE default... if I just switch IE to be a default browser, it fails to load the home page properly if I click on the "Launch Browser".

It seems like there is no XML to edit in this ROM. How to edit the Internet tab links? I changed Opera favorites but the change does not seem to be reflected there...

I found this but it seems like that .manila file does not exist in this ROM.

Quick question -- how is battery life on recent versions? In the past have always had severe issues with energy ROMs (and yes, I disable GSM, facebook, twitter, push, etc. etc.). Can't get through half a day where I can go a full day with other ROMs.

Appreciate insight on whether it's working and which ROM to try for best battery life (and least lag).

do you use no push internet? are those cabs necessary on these custom roms?

I haven't used those 2 cabs since 1st stock rom

Is anyone else experiencing out of storage errors with opera 9.7? I keep getting these after my phone has been running for a while with no other programs running. Check my available RAM and it is down to 25k when it gives that error in Opera.

I have had this happen a couple of times and, due to random strange XML errors, I'm not using IE most of the time...

Yep, sure am. I'm also noticing a long...LONG...lag between sending a text and being able to back out of the interface. Sometimes it takes a long time to get the interface to come up with I hit reply too. For some reason each new version of the Cookie ROMs keep getting more laggy for me. I'm thinking about going to a version back a few months that was stable and fast. Or maybe the GTX theme? I don't know but I'm tired of soft resetting three times a day.
