vogue with SIM??????

according to Naveed Ahamed at XDA the vogue apparently has a SIM card slot

can anyone confirm this? or is he just bs'ing? If it's true I might stick to my vogue even after my contract ends with BELL and switch to Fido or Rogers

no there is a touch made for the gsm users called the elfin.

is that what the person was referring to? cuz its on a vogue forum and he made it sound like as if it has both cdma and gsm capabilities, or is that what elfin is

The elf was the first touch. It is gsm, it has less ram than the cdma vogue, and it has wifi. So basically the gsm version is called the elf and the cdma is called the vogue.
Now apparently, there is a space on the board inside the vogue but without tech data you can't be sure if the conections are there to support some kind of sim card. I guess if you had an extra vogue to mess with, you could tear it apart and do some surgery and see if you could connect something in there. Even then you would have to obtain and possibly port or rewrite software to recognize what you installed. Then maybe it might work. Try it and let us know if it works!

haha too bad i do not have the knowledge nor the equipment to perform such surgery i was just curious about it having a slot for SIM, imo pretty bad idea to have a space for a SIM card slot thats not being used at all, they could of implemented wifi or a 3d acceleration chip (highly doubt it'll fit in that tho) or at least something thats more usefull :\

the slot is what is known as an R-UIM card slot. An R-UIM card is a Removable User Identity Module also goes by the name CSIM or CDMA Subscriber Identity Module.

The R-UIM cards are still in use by some carriers overseas. R-UIM cards are used to store basically everything a GSM SIM card does, phone books, MDN, ETC. As for using the slot for something else not very likely without a lot of modification. Just a note not all CDMA phones have these only certain batches that were intended for use overseas and by select carriers here in the states (Verizon).
