WM 6.1 upgrade, already flashed to Metro

I have the unlock software and qpst. I am wanting to upgrade WM on my Sprint HTC Touch(already flashed to Metro) so I can use the built in GPS. I have already downloaded HTC WM6.1 RevA LBS Update – Version 3.03.651.4 from HTC. I need to know if I can do the upgrade, soft reboot when it pops up the "3,2,1" customizing screen, and not have to do anything else and will it work?

I also want to backup the rom and settings for Metro that are already programmed into my phone just in case something screws up with the upgrade. How can I do this with qpst?

Any other ways to get the GPS to work without the upgrade?

I did the WM 6.1 upgrade sucessfully. I used qpst to load the settings from the phone BEFORE i did the upgade and saved them to a file. After upgrading, I went back into qpst and loaded the file I saved onto the phone. This put all of my metro settings back in place. The phone works, texts work, but when I try to change the internet settings, it keeps reverting back to Sprint's settings, even if I delete them. I went in and changed the following file names: windows\iota.exe to iotaOLD.exe and window\iotaconf.txt to iotaconfOLD.txt. Then I changed the folder name: programfiles\IOTA to programfiles\IOTAOLD. Then I went into the connection settings and setup a new connection for metropcs. Followed all of the metro web settings, yournumber@mymetropcs.com, metro, set all of the proxies, etc.

When I originally programmed the phone for metro, this is what I did to get the internet to work. Is this just something with 6.1? It doesn't matter what order I do this in, it recreates the iota.exe and iotaconf.txt files and recreates the Sprint internet settings and defaults to it. What am I missing?

Thanks! That put my back in the right direction anyway. I made a dummy file HTC_CM_Guardian.exe since the link was broken and it was nowhere to be found. I replaced the file on my phone with the dummy. Went back to change the iota.exe and the two others and it still keeps popping out new replacements and reverting back to sprint settings. Have you heard of anyone having these issues with WM 6.5? I have 6.1 on there now, but I'm about to try 6.5 and see if I have the same issues. There's another .exe somewhere that keeps recreating the iota files but I can't seem to find it.

I got impatient and used NFSFAN 6.5 ROM. Looks and works great! And the best part is that its a generic rom, so no more Sprint trying to override everything! Talk, text, MMS, internet all works! I'm trying to get the GPS figured out. It sees the satellites, but won't lock on in GPS Viewer.... And still says seeking satellites in Google Maps. I saw a fix for it somewhere....
