eMail and Messaging Icons Don't Work!

As the subject notes, my email and messaging icons don't work. When I tap them I get absolutely nothing. I have done a soft reset with no success. Any ideas other than a hard reset would be greatly appreciated.

If you are talking about the icons on HTC Home on the Today Screen then you could try to reinstall HTC Home. I think you can get it in the HTC Touch FAQ Thread under the commonly used programs.Did you install/uninstall anything before this happened? Remove anything?If you do a hard reset it will be fixed but you will loose anything that you haven't backed up.

Hey horndoctor, thanks for the reply. I should add that I am also not getting any emails or text messages. I thought I remembered a fix for this but I have no idea how to search for it.

This apparently happened last nite/this morning based on my enail outstanding. It just happened with no input from me. Nothing added or deleted.

I am thinking the path of least resistance is abound... hard reset.

Yes, I agree. A hard reset may correct several issues and you may find your device will function a lot better altogether. Good Luck!

UPDATE: After doing a hard reset and restoring everything except my email and deleting my inbox files on my storage card, my email and messaging icons work again. After about 2 hours with my emails set up manually, my icons stopped working again. So I just deleted the inbox files on my card and sure enough my icons are working again and I can now access my mail and SMS. Now all I need to do is figure out what is corrupting my storage files on my card.

I suggest you take your storage card out of your device and put it in an sd adapter and insert it into a card slot in your pc/laptop or into a reader and remove any data files that you absolutely have to keep and save them to your pc. Then reformat your storage card FAT32 and then reinstall the data files you extracted. Ideally if you can do without some of those files on your storage card then just reformat the card to erase everything, format and start fresh. Then you shouldn't have any more problems.

I think my issue has to do with my saving my mail attachments to my card. this has happened a couple of time since my initial quote. I just remove the inbox file on my card and sure enough I can restart my email/messaging and the inbox file is automatically re-created. Once that happens, all is well.
