Touch Screen Intermitently Works / Broken

I have had this problem a couple times before but it seemed to "fix" itself. I am wondering if anyone has had this problem. VERY strange issue.

The phones touch screen will be "dead". I will soft reset and nothing. Take the battery out overnight and sometimes that will work. Last time this happened i hard reset, no worky. Phone would be stuck at the touch screen calibration screen, BUT, it would work for 1 press. When it says "touch screen to set up your phone", that would work and it would advance to the calibration screen with the crosshair but the touch screen would then stop working.

I'm currently stuck at the align screen prompt with nothing working except the previous screen that says tap screen to set up your phone. I get 1 touch out of it then it stops working. I have tried several roms, from WDM's new 6.5 to the official 6.1. Nothing is working.

Has anyone ever had this problem? I know the digitizer is not broken. After a hard reset the screen will be dim telling me to touch the screen to continue setting up my device and when i touch it, the screen gets bright (and vibrates w/ the 6.5 rom) and advances to the align screen window.

I'm calling on the seasoned touch people here. I have seen this phone do some funny stuff with all of the new roms (20-30 flashes) but this one has me stumped...... Anyone?

Have you already flashed back to stock rom?
Just wondering as this fixes tons of problems people are having with the phone. I haven't heard of this one though. But since flashing back to stock rom fixes ten thousand other problems it's definitely worth a try.

Yeah. Last thing i tried was going back to the last official 6.1 release.

Has no one experienced this issue? I find that hard to believe that of all of the people on this forum no one has seen this. Guess its a new one.....

no, its not new - just most that experience it return it under warranty replacement or repair ..

Considering the fact you've tried multiple ROMs including stock with the same intermittent digitizer issue resulting clearly shows its an issue with the digitizer as all the software is cleared out of the potential for being the problem by the fact you have tried many including stock

its not uncommon for the digitizer to display unstable issues on some units produced - either from the connection to the main board or perhaps a firmware issue, heat issue (other users site heat from leaving on a window-sill for better reception but it cooks in the sunlight), many possible causes

Swap it out at your store or through an insurance claim and start new

The digitizer was my first guess also, but it is not that. The digitizer works. It will work for 1 and only 1 press when the phone reboots. If i reboot and it comes to the "touch the screen to set up your device" and i let it sit, the screen dims. I then touch the screen and it brightens and advances to the next set up screen but then nothing.....

Doesn't mean it's not the digitizer.
It could be on it's last leg or shorting out.
It is an electronic component.
Electronics can do this from time to time.

And considering like you said it happens on every rom,
it sounds like it has to be something hardware.
Therefore it has to be the digitizer or something else screwing up badly.
