Lightbulb memory addition, crazy idea?

okay, so I found this old ipod I have and the screen on it is busted out.. the ipod and vogue are the same size, its a 30 gig pod, could I have someone install the memory from the pod into my phone? then just flash a radio and ROM, or how could I go about doing this? im getting a tp2 I can handle a cheap phone until then in the risk of this being great.. :]

feedback?

Re: memory addition, crazy idea?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the older iPods used 2.5" laptop style HDD's and the newer ones use micro drives. I think the only ones that use nand flash are the Nano's.

I could be wrong because I've never owned an iPod, but if I'm right, there's no way to put a 2.5" drive nor a micro drive into your phone.

There is a company (PPCTechs) who upgrades flash ram and rom size in xda devices, but their site shows no upgrades available for the vogue.

Re: memory addition, crazy idea?

Yes, you are right. RAM and ROM are are hardware, and the site I posted a link to can often times upgrade the internal hardware of your portable device to have more memory. However, they can not upgrade the internal memory of the Touch Vogue.

Now, as I said earlier, the memory you are referring to in the iPod is a different style of memory. It uses memory of the magnetic spinning disk type, similar to the kind used in computers and laptops but much smaller (a micro drive). It's essentially a hard disk that's between 1 and 2 inches long. The only way I would think it could be remotely possible is if you had a Nano (or a shuffle), even then I'm sure the flash memory in the nano or shuffle, is not compatible with the board in the vogue.
