Re: custom roms and battery life?
hello! i would say that roms do have an impact on battery life. maybe not the biggest difference, but there is still a difference. i am running dreams rom and i see a big difference in my battery life. before i would use the phone mininally and my battery would drain so quickly. now i can pretty much get through the whole day without my phone dying.

Re: custom roms and battery life?
It depends on the rom. I use nfsfan, seems battery usage isn't very good on it but I like the speed and stability of that rom.
Upgrade your battery. it cost money but the peace of mind of not worying your phone is gonna die is worth it. I go withe the cheapest 2400mah sold on ebay, $17-18 shipped bu t there are none on sale now. |

Re: custom roms and battery life?
The ROM has the main effect on battery life other than how heavy youre using your phone. It has the effect on the battery because it is the very brains of your phone and the chefs disable and tweak certain things for better battery life. Dont ask for Chulo12's ROM that hes using, his is for the Touch Pro and would brick your phone.
However NFSFAN's ROM has very excellent battery life if you turn off the Touchresponse program (the program that makes your phone vibrate everytime you touch it). I would suggest flashing to his. You can find it here http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...postcount=2378 this is his WM6.5 ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=432487 this is his 6.1 ROM. Hope all this helps you!

Re: custom roms and battery life?
I agree with shadowfender42. Software makes the difference when it comes to efficiency. What difference does it make if you have the best hardware in any setup if the software can't operate it correctly and efficiently. Personally I use vin255764's no Manila ROM (Sprint) and I go a day and a half without recharge depending on use. I also agree the Touch Response. I enable it only for the SIP. Drains to much battery if used for every press.

Re: custom roms and battery life?
lol not all of them :P
NFSFAN's 6.5 v10 wasnt too rough on my battery. The v12 seems a bit more hungry. But then again I'm using a 1880mAh battery. I get through the day with gsync pulling my contacts and calendar events. 2 gmail accounts (1 pulling at 15mins the other at 30mins). IMPLUS enabled all day. I do about 50 text a day and make a few phone calls and in the end its at about 30-40%. bottom line: If you want 6.5..upgrade your battery! It'll help ya enjoy it more ![]() |

Re: custom roms and battery life?
The advantage of a custom ROM is the optimization of the software. I cooked my own kitchen ROM and have noticed a huge difference in battery life. With the stock Sprint 6.1 I was down to 60% by lunchtime with light use. With the ROM I cooked I can get thru most of the day with 55% by the time I head home.

Re: custom roms and battery life?
The reason why 6.5 ROMs have 'horrid' battery life is because it has an underclocking program built in to it and since ours are betas and stuff it doesnt work properly yet. Or at least this is what Ive heard.
