Angry Instant Messaging Clients -- all buggy or just me?

I think i've tried every single instant messenger client on the market. Oz Instant Messenger, AIM 2.0, AIM 3.0, IM+, Palringo, Mundu, among others...
I seem to have the same problem with all of them.
while connected to the charger, everything runs alright 90% of the time, but while running on battery, the client will only stay connected for a short time, but after being in standby for a short(ish) period of time, the client disconnects and won't reconnect until the phone comes back from standby.
i don't know if my data is disconnecting while in standby or if it's just the IM client.
does everyone have this issue, and if so, is there anything i can do about it? i'm officially ready to pull my hair out >:O
thanks for any help!

not really answering your question, but you could link your aim account (or new account on aim) to your phone and then you can send/receive im's via text message. that works really well, especially with windows mobile 6.1's threaded sms feature.

i've tried that but it's a huge hassle to get a list of online friends and even to initiate a conversation... that's why i like a client... but oh how i get so frustrated with them lol

Try BeeJive! It is the BEST i have used so far.
While the app is open, i switch to "settings/system/task manager" and add the app as an exclusive.
That way it stays open when i close it. I have an extended battery, so i don't notice much battery drain.

i second beejive. Oz has limited functions, the one striaght from aim seems to have a problem recognized the alphabet from certain keyboards, beejive just works, all features included and very quick

Beejive is really a great IM app for WM. I'll be putting a review of it up on my site in a few days, but go ahead and try it. You'll love it!
