Sprint Touch Replacement?

Hi all, yesterday I accidentally dropped my Sprint Touch in my sink when I was washing some dishes and it doesn't seem to be working. I do have the total equipment protection plan through Sprint, so a replacement should be covered, I think? It doesn't look like Sprint sells the Touch anymore though (on the website), is there a chance they will upgrade me to the Diamond or Touch Pro? I have a SERO plan too, if they upgrade me, I can keep my plan, right? Any advice? I don't want to lose my SERO plan.

Thanks

Re: Sprint Touch Replacement?

Usually if your are pretty demanding about keeping your plan regardless if they say they can't then Sprint lets you keep it anyway...As for your phone water damage is not covered by Insurance given thru almost any company but you can search on hear and try to find cures for water damage, though there are not many...If they do well there is probably more replacements out there still for the touch then any other...

Re: Sprint Touch Replacement?

Well, I heard there are 2 different types of Insurance through Sprint. The first is $4 I believe and it only covers theft and dropping the phone. And the other is the $7 TEP which covers everything including water damage. I don't know if the prices have changes as I have a grandfathered Sero plan with the TEP for $5 but I remember discussing this on another forum. I believe if you want the Diamond or Pro then you will have to buy the phone. Try Account Services they may get a deal for you. I went from a Treo 755p to the touch and I didn't have to change anything on my plan. I hope this helps a little......

Yes I have the $7 plan and I believe it does cover water damage. So if they aren't going to give me a Diamond or Pro, what would they do for me? They're contractually obligated to provide me a replacement for the phone (Touch). Do they still have these around to provide?

Re: Sprint Touch Replacement?

Yes they do have the htc touch. If you call the insurance company that is insuring your sprint touch which would be Asurion and file your claim they will charge a $50 deductible and send you a brand new htc touch. Only way to get the diamond or touch pro is to actually buy it at full price.

Ah, ok thanks. That's a shame, but at least I don't have to buy a new phone! I don't suppose they usually let people pay the difference for the upgrade?

Re: Sprint Touch Replacement?

Just call up sprint and say your lost the phone. Tell them you have TEP, and they will transfer you to Asurion. Pay the 50 bucks, and have another Touch in a few days. Just so you know, may or may not be a brand new phone.
This post has been thanked 1 times.

You have water damage so you need to go to www.phoneclaim.com or call Asurion @ 1-800-584-3666 .. They will charge you $50 for replacing your Touch and they will send you a replacement Touch .. They have refurbs so you are not going to get a Brand New Touch. Even though Sprint doesnt have it on their site they still have them to order through Asurion. They still older phones in stock also. If you have Sero you have Sero they will not make yo change plans. PERIOD haha

You dont have to be demanding to keep your plan. If you change your phone whether through upgrading with a 2 year contract, insurance replacement, or just doing an ESN swap then you dont have to change your plan at all. Also the OP says that he has TEP .. Sprint's 3rd party insurance company is prolly one of the FEW companies that lets you get your phone replaced if it has water damage.

You're wrong my friend, TEP is $7 per month which is Total Equipment Protection which covers Lost, Stolen, and Damaged Beyond Repaired phones.

The other option is ESRP which is $4 per month which is Equipment Service and Repair Program which covers Coverage against mechanical or electrical problems, routine maintenance or failure from normal use.

Awesome post but they will give the OP a refurbed Touch

No, they will not let you pay for the difference for that "upgrade" which you speak about.

If you want to upgrade the legit way then go into a corporate store, radio shack, best buy and sign a 2 year contract and buy the phone for the discounted pricing.

Re: Sprint Touch Replacement?

This might be off-topic since the following happened with my wife's Moto Q9c.
We had a similar thing happen with my wife's phone, a Moto Q9c. I didn't have the insurance plan (neither the $4 or the $7 one) on our account. I went ahead and called Sprint customer service and explained what had happened.

The first CSR I talked to basically said that since I didn't have insurance on the account, the best bet would be to purchase a new phone, and that I should be able to pay the price on the website as long as I extended the contract (we were 5 months into a 2-year contract), and transferred me to Sales.
I had a long conversation with Sales, but basically they said I couldn't do that, and transferred me to Technical Support.
I again explained the problem to Tech Support, and I don't know if I got someone in a good mood or what, but she said she would look to find a replacement phone for us, and put me on hold for almost 10-15 minutes. When she got back, she said she had found a device for us, and that it would be mailed out at no cost.

It arrived two days later, and I had to send the original (damaged) phone back to them in a prepaid envelope. We received a refurb phone without a battery, but we didn't have to spend a single penny to replace the phone. Maybe you can try your luck in your case too!

Good luck!
