Re: trouble with xv6900 programming after flash
Have you loaded the dcd carrier cab to make sure all of your info is using Verizon? Did you let the customizations of the other ROMs run? If yes then you need to run the Verizon ROM that is available (there is a dump of the first ROM and a beta release of the upcoming ROM available here on the site) and run the customizations to get everything back on Verizon.
One of these should help but if not post again and we will see what we can do.

Re: trouble with xv6900 programming after flash
thanks for the reply!
the varry first time i flashed, i let the customizations run (Sprint), i hadnt read far enough in the posts at that time. after that, i didnt let them run, i soft reset at the "customize will aoutomaticly run in 3 secconds" thing. and yes, i tried the carrier cabs, but they dont seem to do anything...i think i might be doing it wrong.. i have tried the dump, and again, i dont think i did it right. but i will for sure try your suggestion, and i will post back with the results! (although many of you may already know the results..) TZ |

Re: trouble with xv6900 programming after flash

Re: trouble with xv6900 programming after flash
Ok, letting the Sprint customizations run is what is messing you up now. You need to run the dumped Verizon ROM and let the customizations run. That should get you back to all Verizon settings. Try to get connected then before updating you phone again.

Re: trouble with xv6900 programming after flash
Quote:
When you flash a ROM you a removing the previous ROM and the new one is put on. Nothing is left of the old one to write over. Now the radio is a different matter. Except for the carrier ROMs (full release not the dumped ones generally), most ROMs do not have a radio in them. SO this will not be written over. Since you updated your radio you will probably need to call Verizon for a new A key also. |

Re: trouble with xv6900 programming after flash
ok, what i mean by this is that once i enter the boot screen that shows the os info, the data values have other values written over them, thats what brings me to the thought taht they are just written over, and not erased. also that it fails to boot, and gets hung up at the splash screen. but this only seems to happen (consistantly) when i try to reflash vzw after a previous flash. Re: trouble with xv6900 programming after flash
WOW!!
still not done yet, but i THINK i have it semi-stock! i found an RUU in OMJ's ftp directory, and flashed it to my xv6900, and its running the vzw customizations! i must have had the wrong file or something,( it said that it was just the rom before). this one got me the boot splashes, the rom, the carrier customizations, and probably more! Plus its on 6.1! haha, can you tell im excited? ive been trying to get my phone back to operability for about a week now! HAH! it says verizon instead of preferred system! lol...ok...imma calm down now.. ok, this may sound stupid after just returning my phone from an inoperable state, but i want to flash with my own custom rom once its built. would you recomend this concidering all the trouble ive had? i mean, now i know how to fix it, so i could most likely reflash it if i mess it up again. if you dont think it would hurt, can you point me in the direction of the wonderful ppckitchens build os instructions? id rather not mess it up again, so some step-by-steps would be of great help! and i would like to thank OMJ for his directory of wonderful stuff, lol! thank you for your help BW! if it werent for you, it would have taken me a lot longer to fix this. Re: trouble with xv6900 programming after flash
Glad you got it working again.
As to flashing. Yes, you can still flash your phone. The main problem you had was because of the Sprint customizations on your phone. Now that you are back it should work just fine. The PPCGeeks kitchen is pretty simple to use but OEMs can get you in to trouble now and then (the ones provided in the kitchen should work fine). Look to the sticky threads for any how to articles. I can't think of a good one at the moment. |
