Re: GPS in Spain?$?$?$?$
the touch gps doesn't lock very well without assistance. you can only get the assistance part with a data connection so you're outta luck if you're in a foreign country. there are some parameters in the registry you can modify to help get a better lock without assistance. i don't remember what the settings were but you can probably do a search and find a thread about what the different parameters do. the location of the parameters is hklm\software\htc\supl_agps

Re: GPS in Spain?$?$?$?$
I'm using IGO 2008 and Garmin XT on HTC Sprint Vogue flashed with last Bell ROM 3.42.50 radio and one of the OMJ Customs ROM in Ukraine with and without CDMA coverage. It takes about 8..12 minutes for first lock, but it's usable for car driving. Seems that this GPSOne and hardware antenna used in Vogue are not the best solution and any external GPS works much better, but I have to say for sure that you can use Vogue without CDMA coverage outdoors.
I had also problems finding satellites with older firmwares and have bugs, when I have to use soft-reset to get new lock, but on new ROM’s everything looks ok. I don’t know for sure what was the real fix to get GPSOne working because I was trying to use lot of tools, but I have to say that I was also tweaking with GPSOne parameters using QPST as written at http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=31437 and set those parameters as written by somewho in this forum as follows below: PDE transport: DBM Position calculation: PDE I didn't changed registry parameters, EnableAGPS=1 on and GPSMode=4 are there. So GPS is working and it doesn’t require soft-reset for new lock, but please note that it's working ONLY OUTDOORS and first lock can take 12 minutes or so and 1..4 minutes for warm start. There are CDMA coverage only in cities in Ukraine, but GPS works fine on roads and small villiages there are no carrier coverage. If you don't want to wait long for first lock in Europe you can just use external GPS. For me it’s enough to use internal GPSOne, but in big cities signals sometimes signals are missing and you have to wait 10..20 seconds the signal to recover. PS: I didn’t test GPS with disabled Phone or in “Airplane mode”, so I don’t know for sure should it work or not. PPS: The most annoying thing in this Vogue is non-working Internet sharing via Bluetooth while Internet sharing via USB works without any problems. It’s the most essential for me because I’m using Vogue only for checking e-mail and internet access for laptop while travelling. If someone knows how to fix this BT bug please advice. |

Re: GPS in Spain?$?$?$?$
i get locks in airplane mode.. it all has to do with what GPSmode you are in... if you have it set to 1 it will work.. or does for me anyhow...
2 will as well (hybrid) aGPS and GPS, mode 1 is GPS only p

i took a look at my settings and GPSmode was on 4. i changed it to 2, switched into airplane mode and within 2 minutes, i had a lock on 7 sats. so does this mean that if the people going to europe changed their GPSmode to 1 or 2, it would work???? |

Re: GPS in Spain?$?$?$?$
Just so EVERYONE KNOWS....The Sprint GPS did NOT WORK OVERSEAS!.
IT DID NOT WORK IN SPAIN IT DID NOT WORK IN AFRICA I HAD IT IN AIRPLAIN MODE...I HAD IT IN EVERY CONCEIVABLE MODE I COULD CONCEIVE OF AND IT DID NOT WORK. I AGREE WITH THE GUY THAT DID NOT GET A LOCK IN PARIS. THE SPRINT TOUCH GPS WILL NOT WORK IN EUROPE OR AFRICA. Still think this not a serious friend folks??? |

Re: GPS in Spain?$?$?$?$
Cool it there, buddy!
Well, I think what he's trying to say is: GPS = GLOBAL Positioning Satellite You can get a GPS fix anywhere in the world [that has GPS signal]. However, DO NOT use the radio part of your phone. Go to comm manager, and put it in airplane mode. And do not turn it back on.
