Notice About Stealing Software, NFSFAN

I must agree what he did is stupid, glad it was found out, and just as glad to see him gone. But this thread is getting dumber by the second, and is putting a real damper on this site. I suggest this be deleted and a formal post be made and locked explaining what happened, and what was done about it. Maybe sticky it for a week then let it die already. All this name calling and flaming is getting nothing done but tearing up the community here, and making this situation worse. So can we get on with our lives already and let this die?

You are right to some extent... Yes he did what he did... (It is what it is)..
But as also mentioned several times in this thread or this forum for that matter.. NFSFan's roms were the best for bell mobility..
I've also tried yours, jk, OMJ, RLCM, Mixxys, D'harvey, Ghetofreeryder, mustang, some others that I can't remember and also the official bell rom...
Truth be told, all worked well/mediocre except for the Bell official that was pretty decent. In my honest opinion, all of them were light years away from NFSFan.. Sorry but no offence…
For the ones that haven't tried his rom.. Sorry to hear that... You don't know any better so we should expect no argument from you here... And for all the rest that are not bell users, is not a big deal to lose NFSFan, since there are plenty of Chefs that cook roms for sprint, Verizon, alltel, etc...
To me, any other rom, for bell, but NFSFan is just a generic basic tool, not a lot of work and effort is ever poured into it. I imagine is hard to test it when the rom has to be so very specific to the carrier... (I think of it as learning French but not being able to go to France to test your skills)
So that is why we kind of take NFSFan's side... True, what he did is questionable, and believe you me, I'm not here to excuse him in any way, shape or form... but I will dearly miss his roms...
I am not a tech and I'm certainly not going to ruin my phone experimenting and playing chef when I know for a fact, I’d have no idea of what I would have to do..
I believe there is a person for every task, and mine is to flash and critic...

Note: I kindly appreciate what you guys do... To me writing and composing software/roms is beyond amazing is somewhat genius.. So congrats and keep humble....

I can't believe there are people so dense, how many posts will it take for you sprint users to realize that NFSFan was good at what he did... and that was creating BELL MOBILITY ROMS...(providing he might of broken some rules) but rest assure nobody is sticking up for him for what he did...

NSFAN was motivated by that orange donate button. And to increase his credibility thus increasing his donations, he altered/stole some software from a founding father. This gave users a "false" sense of him being a ppc god like no2chem. And made them more willing to donate.

I think the big orange donate button should be banned as this is a free site. A simple

If you like my work, Donate!

would suffice. Donation links shoud be nothing more than a text link with a font no bigger than a #2, and no icons. This is not a place to earn income off the hard work of others that is available to all for FREE.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it...


edit: if you look, most of the problems recently with banned users, all have these orange buttons...

especially considering the conversation regarding bypassing having to have to PAY for the service sprint offers as well, that described therein will no longer require the user to have to pay sprint for a service of ICS if normally you would have to.

Just curious where the line is drawn is all, is theft of free software and intellectual rights different than the theft of service?

and on a side note, prior to the banning of the individual, whom I dont know,m never spoke with, was watching a thread regarding a ROM I might be interested in, a certain person here in this very thread purposely incited issues and arguments within there disrupting the conversation within, but seemingly nothing will be done to that person as well.

so if I may surmise, theft is wrong depending on the object but OK if a service? and harassment is OK as long as its a senior member or a mod doing so because they have an issue with an individual and its OK to disrupt a thread and the members and conversation within because of a past issue.

If the Mods here would be so kind to clarify this so I know if I indeed want to be involved with this site any longer if the rules are so grey and flexable after all.

Yes, nfsfan should have gave nochem proper accreditation, but even if not .. so freakin what? really its just some code, in a matter of years it will be long forgotten anyways.

Banning a great chef, that at the moment has many many loyal supporters isnt the answer either. (it was his rom that brought many bell users to the forum, including myself)

I dunno, To be honest I think this whole mess has been blown out of proportion a bit...

ya Nochem, we know you do alot for everyone around here, but let it go, do you really have to be thanked and credited every single time? Seems a little conceited/arrogant to me..

NFSFAN should at least be able to defend himself from all the flaming and accusations ..

um dude, he MODIFIED the programs so that they looked like his own. he even claimed them as his own. thats what this whole thing is about. he stole a couple peoples work and claimed them. and he was not a great chef, he didnt do anything that hadnt already been done
