Is google maps GPS free?

I have Sprint and have their unlimited data plan. If i use the GPS on google maps, is sprint going to charge me for it? Anyone know?

they will not charge you extra. i'm in your exact same situation.

No you won't. You'll only get charged if you use SprintNav

Also you can try out Windows Live Search ( which is also free )- which has GPS as well- I actually like it alittle better- you can install it from you PDA by going to wls.live.com if youd like.

Thats right. For even more clarification, keep in mind:

The GPS chip is within your device. You do NOT EVER need to pay for this chip to work.
What you DO need to pay for is the SERVICE using it [For example, Sprint Nav]. Therefore, the only things you get charged for are

1: the program itself [Google maps: FREE!]
2: the data transferred [Just the regular data connection]
3: the service, if any [Sprint Nav service is NOT FREE; Google Maps IS!]

IF you're on a Sprint Everything plan, Sprint Nav use is part of unlimited data... go ahead, use Sprint nav.

There's a thread or two about it on here...

It's free, turn based, voice prompted & has 3d internet based maps.

Better than Google Maps, imo... as is MS's Live.
