Help Please - Stuck "Checking OS"

I just got a new Vogue and was trying to install DH's Black Vista ROM..

I first used the unlocker:

Then I installed the ROM using the download in DH's thread:

It appeared successful, went through from 0% all the way to 100%,rebooted, booting, then it gets to "Checking OS" and just sits there.

I've installed this rom on my previous Vogue, and there was no problem.


I went to bootloader reflashed the rom but still no luck stuck checking os again. ideas?

Same thing, I reflashed 2.31 and it rebooted, now it is stuck back on "checking os".

Power, Camera, HOLE! To put yourself in bootloader mode, then flash the stock rom....

This happens when you try to dissassemble a rom built with the "easy bake oven" PPCKitchen, attempt to change it, then attempt to reflash it using dogguy's kitchen (aka vogue kitchen tools). It's new tools vs. old tools and some folks use the above as sorta protection so no one else can grab their rom and change it....

No worries, put your phone in bootloader mode and reflash a stock rom, or reflash a rom as downloaded.

I swear all I did was unlock it and flash the DH rom like I described above

I tried what you suggested this morning but no luck. I've been having a problem where I can't use the stock rom exe. I double click, it opens, starts extracting, then says this file is corrupt and then closes. I've downloaded like 10 different versions and they all do the same thing. I will try the link you suggested but if it's the one from this forum I'm guessing I'll have the same result.

Is there any reason that what I've described would happen based on:

1. Unlocking the Vogue
2. Flashing the DH rom


Looking back I think you're right and the Sprint Stock rom is the step I missed. Seems I have a computer problem since I can't use these stock .exe files.

Is there an official rom in the form of Rom Update Utility ? This thing works perfectly for me. I appreciate your time in thinking about this

If you are having problems like that, extract the ROM from the updater .exe, rename the 2.nbh to VOGUEIMG.nbh, format a 512 SD card to fat 32 and copy the file to the card. put it in bootloader with the card and flash it from there on the device. There are threads on how to flash from SD if you need more info.

Your mistake was you did not update the radio. You need to use cokemans unlocker AND update the radio to a gps radio before flashing. Your only choice at this point is to do what the above comment says. Format an sd card that is NOT SDHC, just a regular card and boot from there to the factory rom, then try again but make sure you have a 3.37+ radio before flashing to dharveys rom. You can check for that in the first screen where is says R at the bottom

Thank you, I will try the SD card method it sounds like that will definitely work.

I just pray that I can just right click the official rom and hit extract and it will work, since running it does not.
