Re: Auto call forward?
For software to do it, I would assume that it would require two lines on the phone. Follow my logic:
1. Caller calls in on Line 1. 2. Software on PPC sees that it is to forward all calls when charging, so it forwards the call. 3. If there is no Line 2 to forward the call from Line 1, than Line 1 would hang up on the caller to open the line to forward the caller (though they would now be gone). My logic may not be right on, that I cannot tell you. But the process seems right... to be able to forward a call you have to have an open line to send it out.

Re: Auto call forward?
hhmmm but can somebody have two lines on a single phone?
I beleive there is software for PPC that will forward calls, but I am not 100% sure, and if there is, I don't know if it would be able to be set up to autofoward if it's plugged in. |

Re: Auto call forward?
Yes you can have two lines on a single phone. I did on my Treo 700wx with Alltel...
But remember, I said that my logic may not be right on, so take it for what it is worth. |

Re: Auto call forward?
That would be a really cool feature to have.
I have call-forward and no-answer-transfer with Verizon which simply use *72+number or *71+number respectively to forward calls. I doubt Verizon will ever enhance that service ... or maybe they can't.. BUT, when I was trying out DHarvey's ROM I noticed that there were Call Forward settings in Settings/Phone/Services [but the numbers they were dialing must have been for Sprint]. I never bothered to figure out how to change the numbers... i.e. from *68 to *71 but I'm sure it was do-able. My point is that if the other CallForward stuff is already available in WinMo, it's probably a Registry section to set it up... and maybe the ForwardOnExternalPower feature is already available ... we just don't know how to switch it on. Somebody needs to start Googling. ![]()

Re: Auto call forward?
Actually, after a little looking and finding the right keyword searches with Google, I think I found a solution. The latest version of PhoneAlarm (ver. 2.06) says in the user manual that you can forward calls:
Select the telephone number where all calls will be redirected. You first need to configure the list of available Telephone numbers on the Extras / Forward Calls tab. In v2.0 you can now just forward calls when the call is not answered (busy, no signal or not answered) using the additional “- No Answer” option for each call forwarding target. Then, when setting up profiles, you can choose this one: “Power State” will switching when power cable is attached without ActiveSync being started, or when the battery power drops below a certain threshold (low battery profile will be deactivated as soon as power cable is attached). Since it allows for automatic profile changing, it should work like this: Plug in the phone, the power state changes, automatically starts that profile, which automatically forwards all calls to the number of your choice. The only catch is that is that this is not a free solution. PhoneAlarm Pro (you cannot forward calls with SP) costs 18.50 Euros. They do have a free trial though, so you could try it first and see if it works. I already downloaded the latest version and attached it below, if you want to try it. For more reading on PhoneAlarm, the user manual is here (PDF). Last edited by rainfreak; 08-15-2008 at 11:32 AM. |

Thanks for that. It looks like they also have a Lite version for 14.50Euros that doesn't have all the Weather and Task Switcher stuff. Still, now that we've found the External Power-Forward stuff, I want call filtering. SPB Phone Suite has Filtering but doesn't have the Forwarding. ![]() I don't think I'd pay anything for simple call-forwarding enhancements... certainly not $20! If I'm going to buy something it's going to have to have the automatic profiles + forwarding + filtering with customizable actions (ie. blocking, forwarding, special messages). Now that would be worth $20! |
