WinMo6.1 and Google Maps 2.2.0.16

Hi.. Sorry if this may have been asked before, but, I have an HTC Touch from Sprint with Windows Mobile 6.1 installed. I installed the latest version of Google Maps (v. 2.2.0.16) and have all the GPS settings correct on the phone (COM4, Hardware: None, 4800 Baud, Location: ON). I cannot lock into any GPS satellites, even standing in the middle of my front yard with no obstructions and blue skies. When I click on Use GPS in the Menu in Google Maps, I get "20 KB. Seeking GPS satellites (0)..." and it just stays there. After 5-7 minutes or so, I get the message "Your GPS receiver is having trouble tracking GPS satellites. GPS requires a clear view.. blah, blah, blah." Does anyone know if maybe I'm missing something? Wrong setting? Version incompatibility issue? Help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

Re: WinMo6.1 and Google Maps 2.2.0.16

I can verify that GoogleMaps 2.2.0.16 does work fine on 6.1, using the new Bell ROM and my custom ROM from ppckitchen. Sounds like you are having "standard" gps issues that could be resolved using all the different GPS threads on here. If you read through a bunch of the GPS threads you will see that your carrier, radio version and alot of other things make a difference. So you either need to follow those threads or at least reply here with more details.

I know you said that your location setting is "on" but have you tried closing GoogleMaps, opening the location settings, switching it to off then back to on? That is what I've been doing. I should probably read the threads too and find a work around.

Re: WinMo6.1 and Google Maps 2.2.0.16

ive had a similar issue with gps on the Touch. its implementation still seems a bit wonky at times. sometimes using google maps itll sit with 0 sats even though i just used garmin 10 min ago. Seems like the gps gets locked up sometimes. usually a soft reset clears it up though.
