HTC Touch freezing on chargers overnight

Touch freezes up overnight is a well known issue. I had it the second day after I purchased it. After checking different forums, I found the solution, at least for my Touch.
1. Do a hard rest (hold down both green and red button and push the hole at the bottom) if you haven't done so. Make sure to backup all your data as it will wipe everything out.
2. uncheck the Today Time Out option in Today setup.
3. Turn off bluetooth before go to bed.

Those three things solved the problem for me. But after I updated to the new ROM with WM6.1, I don't have to turn off the bluetooth anymore. But I still unchecked the today time out option.

I had started a thread on this a few months ago. Had the problem for a few weeks and then it just went away. I don't recall doing anything that may have caused it to stop.

that sounds like a gremlin. i agree with glfpro, i have stock rom and it froze on me during charging in an outlet. i am charging via usb now. seems a common theme with something being "on" while charging.

me too, freezes while charging. Really annoying, you wake up and battery is completely drained. Froze with NSFAN's roms and new Bell 6.1 GPS ROM (even with nothing installed). Never tried original Bell rom long enough to see if that froze. Maybe it's a WM6.1 problem?

I've not had this happen yet at all, either using the original rom or the new rom. I've never used a custom rom

Maybe there's a common denominator. What applications do you leave running?

I know one of the differences of mine compared to others, I've completely disabled touchflo and biotouch. To me, that's a waste of time and memory.

When I say disabled, I mean disabled in reg, and all the apps were replaced with 0 byte files so they can't EVER load either. Gone.

I have Receive beams turned off, bluetooth ALWAYS on, and the timeout to today set to 4 hours (I think it's 4 hours)

There HAS to be a reason, just have to find out the pattern that causes the freezes.

i had same issue with freezing while charging over night. I took back to store they exchanged it with a new one guess the inside leak i had on LCD made them exchange it faster too but new one has never froze on me TG

I had the same issue. I was using the built in device lock and I stop using it before I plugged it in to charge now it has stopped freezing. Hope this helps others, BOO

It froze again on an overnight charge. The last two times it completely wipes the battery charge to zero. This time I plugged it back into the charger to reboot and it started charging again but I had to unstrap to go. Next time I will try turning off phone for an overnight charge and see if it dies. I am charging now by usb on the computer so far that has had no problems.

I had the same problem when I first purchased it. I have had the same problem after upgrading to 6.1.

The fix is to turn your phone off at night (hold down the PWR button for about 5 seconds and the screen will ask you if you want to shut down, press Yes.)

Since I have started doing this at night I have not had any problems.
