New Official rom & live & gps bug.

I am using OMJ's rom, for some reason, the aGPS will dial "Phone as Modem" instead of "data connection" as it starts.
I think this is why aGPS cannot connect to server since it cannot establish the connection it needs.
I went into registry and delete all entry with "Phone as Modem". Now my GPS lock in seconds with auto data connection on.
I tried cold start (over 24hr w/o using GPS) to make sure it will connect to server and it works perfectly.
You guys can try it as well, be sure to beackup your registry before doing so.

How do I know if I'm using aGPS, rather than just the GPS? I have trouble getting indoor locks here in San Fran, but reception is usually flakey. When I'm outside I can get locks most of the time. I use exchange push and RSSfeed auto update. I don't really understand how this all works though....

Ok so I set changed my shared internet connection settings from "Phone as Modem" to "Sprint PCS"

By doing the following 4 things (more detail here):

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\ConnMgr\Providers\{7C4B7A3 8-5FF7-4bc1-80F6-5DA7870BB1AA}\Connections\Phone as Modem]
"Enabled"=dword:00000000


Tests:

1. Set hotmail to sync 15 mins, reboot, wait 15 mins get mail, open google maps get lock in 5 seconds. (works)
2. Set hotmail to sync auto, reboot, send my self email, open google maps, 5 seconds. (works)

Been using it for the last day with out any phone reboots and gps is working great no glitches yet, 5-15 second locks in and out doors.

Good job hellomcfly! That did the trick. Pushmail is currently on and receiving emails as the come. And I am getting 5 second locks! Incredible! Ok..... I checked all those reg entries and the 1st three were the same since the tethering hack required those 3 to change. But the last reg entry...

was the gps bug. Disabling this makes "phone as moden" off. In which was having a issue in calling the agps server when a actual " Data Sprint Pcs" was already active.

Ok, this should be official a fix. I tried gps this morning and amazingly I got a lock in 4 seconds.Finally. this Vouge works as good as my friends Mogul,

But what did it do to tethering your phone as a modem?

Well, with the official new rom. Tethering was disabled. So you have to do a few reg chances to make tethering possible. One of the changes is to change "phone as moden" to "Sprint PCS". So disabling "phone a modem" is a must and you dont loose nothing. Search on the Vouge section here in ppcgeeks and theres a thread about how to get tethering back.Im on my phone now so i cant really dig it up for you. When I get home I will link you unless someone does it first.

Don't bother with the link. I have it bookmarked. I was just curious if the fix killed tethering.
