screen intermittently unresponsive / freezes

i've searched, but didn't see anything that was exactly like the problem i'm experiencing.

intermittently, my screen becomes unresponsive and "freezes" up. doesn't matter where i touch - there is no response. even the on/off button on top ceases to function...well, i have to push it 3 or 4 times and then it'll turn the screen off. the problem is solved by doing a soft reset. or i can leave the phone alone for 5-10 minutes and it'll "become normal" again.

i've tried to look for a pattern of when this happens, but it's completely random. this happens after leaving the alone phone overnight, or a few minutes, and sometimes it happens after i've used it for 20 or 30 minutes.

i'd like just add that the screen is great when it's working properly - it's highly responsive and takes multiple fast inputs. btw, multiple fast inputs has never caused this problem.

below are the rom/radio i'm using and the installed apps. i'm not sure which rom the phone had when i bought it (~3 weeks ago), but i installed the "official leaked" 3.03.651.2 rom after that. then i did a hard reset and installed the "official" 3.03.651.4 rom and that's what i'm running now.

ROM: official 3.03.651.4
Radio: 3.42.30

garmin mobile xt
google maps
finger friendly friends
OZ instant messaging
resco keyboard pro
spb (brain evo, full screen keyboard, mobile shell, phone suite)
sprint mobile email

thanks for the link, but i already read that thread. i did not alter any advanced settings. seems like the problem the OP of that thread was experiencing, although similar to mine, only occurred after he messed with some settings.

i have not altered any pressure settings. this happens intermittently. otherwise, the screen functions just fine.

I get that as well. I"m just curious if your phone also restarts out of the blue. Those are my two symptoms I'm battling with.

no, mine doesn't restart on its own

I get the same thing. I use my phone to read ebooks and every now and then it will stop responding. I can not advance pages using the touchscreen or the buttons. It isn't just MSReader either, I get the same thing playing Soduku. I wish I knew how to avoid it because sometimes it takes several minutes to regain control.

as im reading this my phone locked up as described. power button wont turn the screen on at all. it seems to do this at least once a week. In a few minutes it'll respond and turn on again.

This happens to me after using Opera Mini for an extended period of time, it happened to me on the old rom but after upgrading to the new official rom i haven't had any problems.

I had a very similar problem except that the screen would freeze up when I would try to shift to the cube. It was also incredibly slow or pretty much unresponsive before I would make that attempt. In addition I had trouble with my radio and receiving a signal from Sprint. Oh also, laptop could not sync with the phone, which was annoying considering that the only thing that fixed the problem was a hard reset.

I am getting the exact same thing. I see no pattern at all. At first I thought it was some of the programs that I had installed, but I did a complete reset and it still occurs. I am also using the official new ROM.

Does anyone know a solution to this problem? Should we contact sprint? or their technical centers/stores? It's annoying as hell to not be able to use the phone when it randomly just freezes up.
