Re: Looking for a good GPS app...

I am looking for a GPS app to use while cycling. Would like to be able to find best bike routes, track milage, speed etc.

Also, does anyone know of a mount that would let you charge your phone while cycling (why not but thoes BTU's to use).

Also looking for a maping software or a plugin to google or live search that will give metro bus routes and times (trying to be as green as possible and save $ from these outrages gas prices )

Re: Looking for a good GPS app...

it would be nice if there is an all-in-one application. However, I've started to do the following:

Find my pizza in live search -> save the business to my contacts.
Open my GPS application -> create a route to the newly created contact.

This isn't the greatest solution, but certainly easier that trying to type an address in.

i just find it hard to believe that none of these expensive gps programs can't do some of the same things as the free live search lol. i think i found one that might come close, working on getting it now. called efficasoft gps utilities. i'll report back and let you know if it comes close.

i went out on a limb and decided to get destinator 7... i'm definitely not disappointed so far. doesn't have all the 3d buildings that igo8 has, atleast not as far as i can tell, but that seems to be the only thing i've noticed that igo has that des7 doesn't. finding POI's was easy... almost as easy as live search. anything else you guys want to know?

Re: Looking for a good GPS app...

I have destinator 6 and 7. It's the software that my GPS use that's why I put it on my phone. I just deal with getting the addy from live search or google maps then input in the navigation software. GPS software are yet to be upgraded to the next level. Yes, it's a pain in the U know what but certainly a lot better than my mapquest days. I used to print the directions and follow it while driving so GPS's are a huge upgrade.

Re: Looking for a good GPS app...

When choosing GPS software, also consider the practicality of the software. Some software maps is a whole chunks of the map(like garmin) which U might not need for everyday use. Garmin requires 2gig of storage for the whole map. U won't need the other areas anyway. Destinator divide the map by area. U only put the map that U need. I only need 133MB of map for my everyday use going around my state. Igo8 is the same.
