Best Headset for Wind?? Only Wind concerns

So i'm lookin for a headset thanks to the laws set aside by the great state of WA. What i'm looking for specifically is one that works well in the wind- windows rolled down, windy walks through campus during fall quarter.. etc.

Price doesn't matter, stereo bluetooth doesn't matter, looks doesn't matter. comfort would be nice, but utility is more important.

i was considering the plantronics 855 or the jawbone II, and have been leaning towards the 855 b/c the few reviews i have seen tend to bend in that direction. any help would be great!

Re: Best Headset for Wind?? Only Wind concerns

I've been using a BlueAnt Z9 for the past couple of months and have been pretty happy with it. It has two microphones on board, as well as the ability to adjust to two different sensitivity levels, depending on surrounding conditions. Also, BlueAnt posts firmware upgrades on their website (www.blueantwireless) which are a snap to install and keep your earpiece current. BlueAnt also just released the Z9i, but I haven't checked into it much, so the website would be your best bet for info there. Cnet gave the Z9 an 8.3 overall.
EDIT: BlueAnt just released the 4.0 firmware upgrade, which addresses perfomance in windy conditions. Sounds like this could be what you're looking for

Re: Best Headset for Wind?? Only Wind concerns

I've tried many different headsets, I recently started using Motorola's T505 ( placed on my sun visor) and just yesterday as I was driving my car with the roof down, I noticed people could actually hear me and have an acceptable conversation. I was very pleased with it.
cheers
Eduardo

Re: Best Headset for Wind?? Only Wind concerns

I usually recommend the Plantronics Voyager 520 or the BlueAnt z9 headset works really well too.

I haven't used either, but I have not gotten any customer complaints on either one..

Plantronics. The 855, 655, 520, just about any of their BT headsets are excellent.

Re: Best Headset for Wind?? Only Wind concerns

hmm. so 2 votes for blueant and 2 votes for plantronics

can the z9 be upgraded free to the z9i?

__
sidenote considering this thread's only for wind:
blueant has upgradability but plantronics has decent stereo bluetooth configuration

Re: Best Headset for Wind?? Only Wind concerns

The best headset I've ever used for strictly the feature of wind cancellation is the Logitec Mobile Freedom. It's an older headset, and doesn't do any of the fancy stuff the Jawbone or Plantronics headset, but it does cancel the wind. It uses a hardware solution to do so, and that works better then any software solution I've ever tried.

Re: Best Headset for Wind?? Only Wind concerns

Cannot move you IN a direction, but certainly AWAY. The jawbone II does NOT work well with wind at all. It basically totally breaks the device down to useless. Sans wind, GREAT, loud and nice sounding, fit is excellent. But wind. fagettabowt!
