So the only was to get visual voicemail for sprint is to pay for the call forwarding feature????

As far as I know, yes.
Now if you don't let many calls go into voicemail, then $.20 per minute ain't that bad. But if you don't get many voicemails, then you wouldn't really need something like visual voicemail.
SPRINT should put its s*** together and don't charge for forwarded calls any more.
