Re: Linux is dangerous to Vogue ! Beware... :)

Are you guys unmounting the device before disconnecting it or powering it off? Linux and Windows caches the writes to the physical medium, so if you just copy a file over and then when you see it's finished, yank the usb cable out or power off the phone (or let the phone power off), then you stand the chance of corrupting the partition.

If you are using the USB2PC program, note that it doesn't work like ActiveSync. It will power down your phone according to your profile settings. This will lead to eventual corruption of the partition. You need to take care when you use this application. Always disconnect and keep the phone power on while connected.

to the phone, though...

how did you get your phone to sync in gentoo, are u 32-bit or 64-bit.... the only thing that ive managed to get working is tethering drivers

Never actually synced the phone, like the OP it was just to charge the phone. There is SyncCE ( or something close to that ) but last I looked it wouldn't work on my apache, havn't even looked to see if the vogue will work with it. Sorry for any confusion on that one.

Re: Linux is dangerous to Vogue ! Beware... :)

I connect mine all the time and have never had an SD corruption under any rom. I connect mine all the time but only for charging.

I am curious though, what is this usb2pc? Is it a driver I can use to transfer files to/from my Vogue? If not, is there another way cause that would be handy.
