Linux is dangerous to Vogue ! Beware... :)

Today, accidentally, I`ve inserted my HTC Touch in to a
linux machine (CentOS)
via a USB cable (just to CHARGE it, you know :) , nothing more involved
than that)..

Sad story ... the result is - SD card corrupt, all files gone,
and the system on Touch cannot connect anymore to PC
via activesync..

I had to hard-reset the ROM (NFSFAN`s 1.10, it was in USB2PC mode),
and repair SD card with scandisk

I post this just as a warning to everyone ..

(and I`m, of course, curious - is this behaviour systematic,
if anyone tried this before?)

I've connected many phones to my gentoo box and never had any issues, however I was never running the usb2pc, which makes it look like a mass storage device... my guess is that's the culprit.. but still wierd. I don't know CentOS but none of my linux boxes would have auto mounted that drive as read/write... so who knows... vogues have a track record of corrupting SD's already so could just be coincidence perhaps?

Yeah, Touch just corrupts cards randomly. Mine just erased all the pics that i've taken and stored on the card. I don't know how and why.BTW this thread shouldn't be on the vogue upgrades though. LOL

thanks alot, EtrnlWolf! .

I do not know about any detail of that @auto-mounted as write@ option, though, it should be a standard for now, shouldn`t it?

But, speaking of the event, I've certainly unmounted that drive before, of course, which, I suppose, should eliminate any troubles of that sorte, shouldn't it?

HAHA that sounds like plugging an Ipod into Itunes without the settings configured correctly! Learning the hard way!

Try one of the new custom ROMs (6.1 ones especially), I used to have my SD card corrupted at least once a week. Now it never happens. Seems that there was something wrong with the original Sprint Rom that was released for this phone.

thnx so much slypher, but it occurs to me
that's what I'm using now (NFSFAN's 1.10) is a 6.1 ROM,
is not it (if there any knowledgeable people around)?

:)
