WIMP - Where is my phone

Has anybody been able to use WIMP v1.3 sucesfully on their sprint touch?

wimp-software.co.uk/phpbb/

Looks like a pretty cool software. You send a sms message to the phone an WIMP it sends the gps coordinates back to you if your phone ever gets "stolen"

WIMP runs hidden on the system and it doesn't show in the running program list.

Just tested this on my Mogul and it works great. Will try on the Touch when I get in on Tuesday

Re: WIMP - Where is my phone

Does this work if you send the text via e-mail, or does it have to be from another phone like the other tracking programs?

Yes, it works with any text service that your phone can respond to

Re: WIMP - Where is my phone

Hmm... I just tried sending the command from my Yahoo account, but my phone wound up displaying an error saying "Message sent using invalid number of digits..." The screen came on for a minute when I first sent the text message (I assume to secretly bring the GPS online), but I never got any response in my e-mail inbox.

Re: WIMP - Where is my phone

There's a list of programs that are fairly similar at this other thread i made as well
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?p=305004

I know sprite terminator and vito findme work if you manually turn on GPS, i'm looking for a way to make the programs turn on the GPS with it, or keep GPS always running to fix that.

Re: WIMP - Where is my phone

You can set GPSToday to update it's position at whatever interval you'd like. That might solve the problem
