Sound Question

I just switched from a verizon 700w to the sprint Touch. While I love most things about the Touch, I can't seem to figure out what's wrong with my sounds. On the treo, whenever I dismissed a notification (say a new text), my text ringtone would stop ringing. However, on the touch, it will go through the entire ringtone until the end (i.e.- ringtone is 30 seconds long, i dismiss the text alert 5 seconds into it, it will still ring for another 25 seconds until the ringtone is over) Is there any way to make it so the ringtone stops when I dismiss/delete/or otherwise attend to the alert/text/e-mail/missed call/voicemail/etc. that it's ringing for? Thanks!

Re: Sound Question

I hate all those nonsense sounds. So, went to...

Start > Settings > Personal (default tab) > Sounds & Notifications

UNchecked everything! No more annoying noises, but phone still rings and MP3s play nicely.

Re: Sound Question

Goodtunes,

Does your MP3 stop playing when you dismiss/open/deal with an alert or does it play the mp3 in its entirety?

Re: Sound Question

Yes, because I set my player, PocketMusic, to behave that way by tapping a checkmark in the checkbox to pause playback on incoming call. But, I presume the music would continue to play if this box were UNchecked, an option I've not tested due to being somewhat incapable of dealing with such an alert while engaged in listening to music(weak mind). Hmm, I wonder, are those annoying alert sounds played through WMP? That'd be typical of how MS WM programs work. For example, when File Explorer opens a JPG file, it uses Pictures & Videos. Possibly you could find a setting in Windows Media Player to make things function as you want.

Hope this helps, MrG
