Screen/display randomly turns on, any solution yet?

I read that the Touch/Vogue, Mogul, and some other WM devices all do this. At the same time, others don't--such as 700w/x.

I also read that the screen will turn on/wake up on its own when the phone is in a marginal coverage area, and is switching between EVDO/1xRTT. This is my experience. S2U2 helps, but does not solve the problem. In addition to the poor coverage, the screens coming on over and over burns the already anemic battery.

Has anyone identified a solution for this problem? A registry hack perhaps? I thought I read SuperDave came up with a patch for it, but couldn't track it down.

I'd appreciate any help.

I too would be interested in this i live in an area where I barely get service if any at all but i don't use my phone at home that much but it drives me crazy constantly waking up every time i get or lose service thanks in advance

Its not waking up when switching from EVDO to 1X. It wakes up when its going from Sprint to Roaming and then back again.

I never see the phone switch between roam and Sprint when it wakes up, but I do see it switching between EVDO and 1xRTT. In any case, I tried to disable roaming and the screen still lights up randomly.

I dunno i believe mine does it even when the phone is set to airplane mode... Not sure what exactly the cause is but figure it might have something to do with email... Seemed like it was pinging servers to locate any new email. I have push disabled in the com manager but set up my yahoo account using sprint messaging.

What if any are anybodys thoughts?

Come on. This has got to be a setting or something. If everyone was experiencing it, wouldn't everyone be complaining here? What am I doing wrong???

Its been an issue since WM2003, so far there seems to be no fix... I dont know the direct cause, but as far as i know, no fix...

I haven't had problems with Samsung nor Treo WM devices. It seems to be only with HTCs.

i have had the same problem as well. i press the power button to lock the keys.. i try to press the call/end/camera/nav keys ect, and the phone remains locked.. a few minutes later i pull it out to find it called voicemail or something because the screen woke up.

i also notice it at night, set it on the end table, plug it in.. in the middle of the night, the screen would turn on and light the room.. so i have to charge it face down on the table so i can sleep.

i would love to know a fix as well..
