I read that the Touch/Vogue, Mogul, and some other WM devices all do this. At the same time, others don't--such as 700w/x.

I also read that the screen will turn on/wake up on its own when the phone is in a marginal coverage area, and is switching between EVDO/1xRTT. This is my experience. S2U2 helps, but does not solve the problem. In addition to the poor coverage, the screens coming on over and over burns the already anemic battery.

Has anyone identified a solution for this problem? A registry hack perhaps? I thought I read SuperDave came up with a patch for it, but couldn't track it down.

I'd appreciate any help.
