Re: Verizon Users who FLASH [their roms]
yes even on a simple hard reset, it's called the A-key that you need to get from verizon. It's a known issue and they've been saying a fix is in the works since the phone came out

I don't recall the details as I'm on Sprint. But somehow he reprovisioned his phone by disabling the current phone (before flash) and then reenabling it when he was done. Some folks that have lost their DATA provisioning on Sprint I think can also do tricks like changing your password online will initiate an IOTA data provisioning of your phone (or it used any way).

Re: Verizon Users who FLASH [their roms]
I've flashed my ROM many times and I only had to call Verizon the first time... after I unlocked it and upgraded the radio. After that, I've never had to call them.

Re: Verizon Users who FLASH [their roms]
I had it happen to me this time around on the Radio Upgrade for the VX6900. Went straight to the Sprint Leaked ROM radio. Granted - it has only happened when I did the initial radio flash. I've re-flashed my ROM to various flavors and variety of builds at least a dozen times since with no problems. (So "no," I don't need to call each time) When I upgraded the radio on my VX6800, I didn't have this issue (plus I didn't have two devices when I had my XV6800). If I had known it was an issue, I would have followed my own advice in the next paragraph
Yes, it is the A-Key. There is one way to avoid it. If you have another smart phone (device that matches your current plan) lying around, use your vzw.com option to activate it BEFORE YOU FLASH YOUR RADIO. (You will need the ESN off the back to do this). Do the *22899 on the spare device and verify that your network works. Then flash your radio on and OS ROM's on your new device. Before you dial *22899 to program your device, you go back to vzw.com and activate this device. This is just like picking up a new device,... the online activation will push a new A-Key to your phone. Hope that helps. Chris Last edited by seebeatty; 06-03-2008 at 01:34 PM. |

Re: Verizon Users who FLASH [their roms]
Both my wife and I have Verizon service with the XV6800's. In both cases, I've only had to call Verizon for the initial radio upgrade.
I load a new ROM on my phone every week or two and haven't had to call back yet. |

Re: Verizon Users who FLASH [their roms]
Chiming in to repeat the other posters. I had to call CS on the radio upgrade only. Heck, I think I flashed 20 seperate roms over the past weekend with no problem.

Re: Verizon Users who FLASH [their roms]
Recently upgraded my Verizon VX6800 to the ROM: 3.35.NO2.5060, Radio Version: 3.35.04, using the Titan_NoChem_5067_WM6.1 rar... and found that I although I can make and send calls, when I attempt to access the internet or receive or send email via the Verizon Wireless system (rather than WiFi), the device tries tries to dial out using: "#777", and then the "(MyPhoneNumber)@vzw3g.com" with the password as: "vzw". (Some times it asked to save the the password, and other times - that option was missing.)
The end result is now I get a popup windows that offers the following: "Error Code: 11, PPP Connection Error". Tech Support at Verizon thought "it might be a Network Issue"... but, they aren't sure. They're looking into it as I type this missive... and promise to get back to me. The good folks at UTStarCom, as well as at HTC - have echoed their comments that they "...have NO CLUE" as to why we can't connect. (Anyone else have this issue... ?!) In short - we've contacted Verizon about a half dozen times to authenticate the connection (they say we don't need to use a A-Key any longer), and have FLASHED our devices over 12 times in only 4 days... without any resolution.
