Re: VOGUE only: Average Number of GPS Satellite Locks?

I get somewhere between 4 to 6 satellites when mostly indoor or surrounded by tall buildings. When I am on an open freeway in my car, most I have gotten was 12 but average 6 to 8 in a clear day.

Besides getting more satellites, we need to look at the DOP value. GPSviewer shows this value. The lower the value, the more accurate your location is. This value is determined by how far the satellites you obtained are apart from each other. I don't know how they calculate it, just know that the lower the value the better.

Re: VOGUE only: Average Number of GPS Satellite Locks?

I live in Northwestern Alberta (Canada for those not in the know) and I consistently get 9 when outside and 4 when in my house. Running the 3.37.10 radio.

Re: VOGUE only: Average Number of GPS Satellite Locks?

I'm using the Sprint leaked ROM(3.02) with the PPST.exe fix and I usually get a lock on between 5-9 Satellites within a minute inside my home, and between 8-12 satellites within a minute when traveling in my vehicle. I've been very content with this ROM thus far (3 weeks).

Re: VOGUE only: Average Number of GPS Satellite Locks?

I get 7-8 indoors and 8-12 outdoors. I don't think our gps can handle more then 12. I think it's only a 12 channel unit.

I was using the leaked rom and radio. As of last night I'm testing Dereks 20.1 version rom. So far no issues with either of them.

We are talking about how many satellites our built in GPS is able to lock onto. The more you lock onto, then the more accurate your positioning for navigation use or other GPS-related programs.
