Re: Htcclassaction.org Making Serious Progress!!!!!!!!!!!
The GSM Touch uses a slightly different variation (But similar in many ways) of the chipset that handles all data and voice on the phone. Also integrated into that same chip by Qualcomm is Hardware 2D/3D Acceleration. With that said, the chip may require slightly different calls/commands to activate/utilize the acceleration.

Actually... I'd rather give a dime to HTC than slam a sliding glass door on my nads...

More to the point, I can't think of a single HTC device I've ever owned that didn't have at least one serious problem. Had an Orange E200 which was nice but the joystick thing lasted about 4 months before it stopped working. Seems it was a common problem. That $3 part cost over $100 for HTC to fix and that lasted another 4 months. 8 months old and it wound up in the trash. Then there was the Blue Angel pda which was, in my opinion, the best device HTC ever made. Wifi worked great, data speed was good for an EDGE device, the screen was large, it was very fast, had lots of memory for it's day. Unfortunately, battery life was abysmal. Just being a phone wore the battery down so fast it would get hot with almost any use. I owned a T-Mobile MDA which was so slow it was almost unusable at times and the screen constantly went out of alignment. Turns out that was a common problem too. Sometimes I had to realign 4, 5 or more times a day. T-Mobile was kind enough to send me two replacements but they did the same thing. I also had two of the *old* AT&T pda phones. By modern standards they were laughably bad. Even in their day they were dodgy at best. Oh yes...and the Mogul. What a turd. Slow, underpowered, grossly overpriced junk. I couldn't even tolerate that thing for 4 months before I unloaded it and got a Touch. Despite the garbage DirectDraw implementation, the Touch is probably the most useful pda I've owned. It's just unfortunate that everything useful uses DirectDraw. What makes me laugh is how even Windows Media Player sucks on the Touch. In fact, the only way you can watch a video on the Touch is to use TCPMP and set it to anything except DirectDraw mode. I've owned more than one Touch, they've all done the exact same thing. And yet there are still people who will say, with a totally straight face, that there's nothing wrong with this phone. Cracks me up. Oh...just for added ambience, the Mogul had the same problem. Assuming you could get a video player to load without getting an "out of memory" error. So yeah, the bottom line is that HTC can kiss the fattest part of my as5. I won't buy any more of their junk and I'll go out of my way to make sure anyone I know also doesn't buy any more of their junk. With all the other options available or about to be available, why settle for second rate hardware from a company that's best known for being a bunch arrogant pricks? Edit: Oh yeah, I forgot the T-Mobile SDA. This was actually a very nice phone EXCEPT it had the same joystick problem as the E200. I have two SDAs in a box somewhere, neither of which lasted six months. |

Re: Htcclassaction.org Making Serious Progress!!!!!!!!!!!
I've been fairly happy with my xv6700, and my 6800, and I can't wait for the diamond. However I understand your rant.

Re: Htcclassaction.org Making Serious Progress!!!!!!!!!!!
I understand the rant and will personally add that I bought the Touch and couldn't believe how slow it was. Since I have upgrade the rom, my phone has now become very usable and fast (I like SBR's rom)
HTC Class action gives far too much false hope for me. I don't think they'll ever go to court with it and they have secret hackers who are not divulging any information on what they currently up to. If they did, our commuity could jump in and we'd probably all have the *@# drivers working finally. |
