Re: Alltel mms
Der, misread your post. I thought you'd asked me IF I had tried, not what.
I've tried all the server settings posted. |

Re: Alltel mms
I am having the same exact issue. I have tried flashing OMJ's Alltel ROMS (Both versions) and I cannot get MMS to receive. Sending works fine on a few different server configurations (gateway: mms.alltel.com or nothing both work (send), Server: mms-mt.alltel.net/servlets/mms and mms.alltel.net/servlets/mms both work (send), port 8080, WAP 2.0). I have tried deleting IOTA, but all this seems to do is suppress the Sprint Vision provisioning error notifications. I have deleted the IOTA registry settings and modified the ArcSoft registry settings to no avail.
I have also tried all of these things after installing Lenny's ArcSoft Alltel CAB with the same disappointing results. I have tried both letting customizations run and bypassing. The only solution I can think of would be for someone to create a custom ROM with every trace of the Sprint IOTA settings and all traces of the Sprint ArcSoft version removed, so the Alltel customizations and ArcSoft version can be installed cleanly. I do not feel I am up to doing this myself, as I honestly dont know what I am doing with ROM kitchens. Anybody out there up to this challenge? Is it even possible to do? Many of us Alltel customers would be eternally grateful!! Last edited by DarkFalconX; 05-27-2008 at 01:20 AM. |

Alltel MMS Receive: Partial solution found!
After hacking around a while trying to resolve this issue, I finally stumbled across a "hack" that seems to get the job done! This was tested on OMJ's custom 6.1 Alltel ROM:
1) Do not let any customizations run after the ROM install. 2) Find a copy of ArcSoft 5.0.31.7 cab [ http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=26915 ] and install it 3) When you go to messaging, now it shows "SMS/MMS" and E-Mail, but MMS will not work as-is... 4) Install LennySh Alltel ArcSoft CAB 3.0.26.12c over the top of 5.0.31.7 and soft reset 5) You will now see the same "SMS/MMS" and Email folders, but a "Pics/Videos" folder will now show. This is where you will send/receive MMS messages (you'll just have to overlook the fact that the top folder says MMS, I havent figured out a workaround for that one yet) 6) Make sure your MMS server settings are no gateway, server: mms-mt.alltel.net/servlets/mms, port: 8080, connection: Alltel Wireless (or whatever you have your default internet connection named) and WAP version 2.0 7) Send a MMS message to your handset from another phone. Within 2 minutes you should see the Touch auto-connect and receive! Send works the same as it always did. I hope this helps, and maybe it will give a clue as to what is wrong with the ROM as-is. I have had a 100% success rate repeating this "hack" several times now after hard resets and re-flashes. |
This post has been thanked 2 times. |

Re: Alltel mms
I havent attempted to send anything to another carrier, as most everyone I message has Alltel. I have a feeling it's 1 of 2 things: either the inter-carrier gateway is having issues again (run by a third party) or AT&T doesn't like the 300k file size (which I dont think is really all that large, but who knows?!)
