Not sure about Leopard. It worked in Panther and Tiger. I'll give 10.5 a shot when I get home.

Well WM6 has an included app "Internet Connection Sharing", and Sprint did try to deter tethering (very lame attempt) by making it so ICS can't make a data connection itself, but if you have a data connection going already from another program...ie googlemaps opera etc... ICS will connect right up.

There is also a hack to allow ICS to make a data connection itself, just by deleting one registry entry, it appears they don't know/care when we are tethering.

I tether every single day with my Mogul and before I picked that up did so with my Touch. (Bought a mogul for a dedicated tether!) I daytrade from my laptop via the tether so there is consistently a lot of data being transmitted. I OCCASIONALLY get disconnected but routinely stay connected for 8+ hours with no problems at all. The Touch was far more reliable than the Mogul to be sure.

I have noticed that even tethering over USB that sometimes it stops charging and after a few minutes starts again. This has led to the battery draining and forcing the phone to turn the radio off. This is rare though. I'm looking to get an extra battery for times like that.
