Re: GPS sees plenty of satellites but can't get a fix (video attached)
I'm seeing the same results. I tried the hgray route and everything installed fine but I couldn't ever get a lock. I did see a this http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=25407 but I couldn't get the new set of drivers to install. Couldn't overwrite "gpsapi". I flahed the new alltel rom again thinking it was something that was installed when I did the hgray solution but when I tried to install the new drivers again on the fresh rom, it wouldn't copy over it again. What's even more weird, when I look for the file, I can't find it (I have show all files checked). I tried looking from the phone and from my PC.

I have seen that early on expirmenting with early GPS DLL's.
Make absolutely sure you have the newest GPS DLL's (cooked or patched on). Discussed Here: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=25407 Then make these simple refinements Posted Here: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showpost.p...1&postcount=24

Re: GPS sees plenty of satellites but can't get a fix (video attached)
I noticed that regardless of running the .cab file or doing a copy paste that I can't overwrite gspapi.dll. Several of the other files don't get updated either. I'm sure that someone has covered what needs to be done in order to update the files, but having read so much on the site, my brain is mush. If someone could post here if there's something different that we need to do other than just installing the cab, it would be awsome!

This would happen once and a while on my Mogul. Pull the battery and wait 10-15 seconds and put it back in. Then try your GPS. I don't know if it will work on a Touch but it is worth a try.

Quote:
If they are cooked into your ROM you may have problems (I don't know for sure). Not sure if stopping GPSDaemonServer service will help allow overwriting. If you have a mixed set of DLL's you'll have issues, work on getting ALL the DLL's on and it will run much smoother. |

Re: GPS sees plenty of satellites but can't get a fix (video attached)
Thanks, I tried resco but the gpsapi.dll wasn't impressed. I will seek out the TotalCommader and report back this weekend. Thanks for the help!

If resco wont do it i doubt totalcommander will. I had problems copying with total commander, but resco did it, no problem. Is that the first thing you do after a soft-reset?

Re: GPS sees plenty of satellites but can't get a fix (video attached)
After installing the new Alltel ROM, I activated my phone then installed the .dll's using the cab and copied kickstart.exe to the startup dir. Did a soft-reset, and ran the GPS view program. The sats appear, but flash in and out, one will show good signal, but then go away, most stay under 25. One of the things I thought of was what mswlogo mentioned, that the .dll's aren't happy. I checked the file size, datetime stamp and they weren't the same as what's in the cab. That's when I tried to copy them in and hit the brickwall known as gpsapi.dll. Can't delete, can't rename, lol, can only cuss.

Re: GPS sees plenty of satellites but can't get a fix (video attached)
Same thing here.
Do any of the custom ROMs have the new DLL's included? Seems no matter what I try it won't let me overwrite those files. I get the exact same behaviour as in the video. Eventually it usually gets a lock, if I leave it outside for about 20 minutes. |
