Possible to go back to stock radio/rom on Verizon from GPS roms??

Once the GPS rom/radio is loaded on a Verizon XV6900, is there currently any method for going back to the way the device was from the factory, with the stock radio and rom??? or do we have to wait until Verizon releases the .exe ROM??

As far as I know there is no official Verizon exe ROM, so yea I don't think you can go back to the stock version.

Ok, but is there a way to downgrade the Radio and used the downloaded Rom that is posted in the stickies?? It sounds like everyone that has tried loading the ROM has issues, but my guess is that is because of an incompatible radio.

Re: Possible to go back to stock radio/rom on Verizon from GPS??

Well you can try using the Sprint stock exe, so that it puts the default radio back, then unlock again using Cokeman's 0.40 unlocker, then flash the dumped Verizon ROM back on. But that sounds risky I don't think its wise to flash another carriers exe ROM on the phone. Sorry I just had to make sure I made that clear, in case something goes wrong, lol.

This is the warning from ImCokeMaN "WARNING: These carrier shipped EXE roms will include a stock bootloader and "relock" the phone if using the o.40.CoKe SPL. I suggest nobody should use shipped carrier exe roms from a different carrier with the 0.40 unlocker as if it gets interrupted and your carrier doesn't have a shipped exe you might not be able to flash ANY rom."

So I guess you can try to flash the Sprint EXE, make sure you don't let the customizations run by resetting the phone, then unlock using 0.40 unlocker and flash the Verizon stock ROM.

You can also go by these instructions : http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=24906

From what I understand, v0.40 unlocker allows radios and whatnot to be overwritten, but v3.31 will not. This was to prevent screwups with all the GPS testing when it first came out.... or something like that

Re: Possible to go back to stock radio/rom on Verizon from GPS??

Thats correct. However, Jump SPL is capable of overwriting the SPL you currently have installed. Thats why you run the 0.40 unlocker before flashing the Sprint EXE to complete the downgrade. In theory you should be able to flash a "Dumped" version of the Verizon rom thereafter. Just remember that flashing radio portions of firmware is always a risky task and your probability of failure will be lowered if you do not "Upgrade" just because a higher version radio comes out. Hope that helps.

Re: Possible to go back to stock radio/rom on Verizon from GPS??

If your verizon phone is working, then downgrading should (I haven't tried it) be possible using the stock sprint exe flashed to a phone running the 2.31 unlocker.
The reason for the 2.31 unlocker was to block the alltel exe from installing an alltel bootloader (which doesn't like verizon or sprint phones).

So my theory would be that if you flash the sprint oem exe with the 2.31 unlocker, you should again keep the 2.31 bootloader and not be stuck with a verizon phone and a sprint bootloader (likely a brick).

It might not boot at all at that point, as the 2.31 bootloader is only meant for the new radios, so you'd have to downgrade the bootloader back to coke's 0.40.

No I haven't tested any of this, as I'm happy with my new radio and gpsTest rom... If I wanted verizon stock something, i'd wait until june, july, or december when VZW gets off its butt with its own GPS OEM exe

Re: Possible to go back to stock radio/rom on Verizon from GPS??

I tried several times to load the stock Verizon rom with no luck at all. It kept hanging up at the splash screen

Re: Possible to go back to stock radio/rom on Verizon from GPS??

Had you loaded the sprint stock rom first? The "stock" verizon rom is a dump that does not include the older radio. If you have a 3.37 or 3.35 radio on your phone, it won't work by just loading up the dumped rom.
