I thought that data was data and our unlimited data plan alowed for tethering?

Can Bell even tell we are tethered?

You'll need the RUU, all the links and instructions can be found here

It's all very easy.

As for speedtest.net, I believe those are for people who are tethering, I get charged insanely for that as it's not part of my plan so I don't use it. mobilespeedtest.com gives me varied results so I'm not too sure about REV A for my area, either that or I'm just in a bad reception area. I'm in Vancouver, btw.

Re: With a bell mobility HTC cdma which rom is recomended...???

I'm using OMJ's Bell ROM.

I tried about 5 roms and this one is MY favorite... I think the best is to try them by yourself. Once the Cokeman + Radio upgrade is done, flashing a new ROM is a piece of cake..

If anyone uses my rom, or any rom based off of the 3.02 leaked rom, you need to search and delete the entry containing isext.dll in the registry. I tether all the time, never gets flagged

Do you mean that removing this file will make tethering "free" ???

NFSFan is the one for me... Fast, clean and so far the fastest with GPS locks...
Currently using NFSFan 1.05 ver. No theme...
Cheers...

The isext.dll is the dll that lets Telus, or whoever know we are tethering. In previous roms, it was rilphone.dll. dont know how long it will last, but ive never been charged. Another way if using pdanet, which I also own, It costs 40 bucks, but well work it

Just to make sure, I know you know what you are talking about, this is not the point.

But, can anyone with BELL can confirm this ??

Also, is there a way (maybe using the self-service portal) to check if I'm charged for tethering before I receive a $400 bill at the end of the month ??

I don't think tethering is a good idea for us Bell users as it's specifically stated in our contract to not use that. So the occasional use to visit a website or something that you can't on your phone is fine... I wouldn't be downloading any torrents over it.

Even if they don't know you are tethering, they will sure think something is up with a large data volume.

There are a couple of threads on here somewhere about tethering for Bell Vogue users.

I dont want to torrent using the Touch but only for occasional mail checking while in the car or something like that... Being cheap, I dont want to pay for it !
