Re: Sprint Touch as a fax modem for pc/laptop

It probably still is possible... I would guess that Sprint still has its 2G modem/QNC feature still available... It seemed to work with a number of Vision phones. But Sprint would in any case charge you $0.39/minute to use this feature.

just got to figure out how...

anyways: http://faxzero.com/

Re: Sprint Touch as a fax modem for pc/laptop

I'm going to dig up this old thread because I am trying to do this too, and with windows 7 out, there is a built in faxing app. Basically what you do is connect a phone line to your computer and it does the rest. The problem is that I don't have a home phone, but I have a touch pro 2 instead.

Since faxes are sent over the phone and not internet connections, I'm guessing that there should be some way to send a fax over the phone portion of the... well.. phone.

Is there any way to tell your TP2 to just act as a regular modem and not an internet connection?

Re: Sprint Touch as a fax modem for pc/laptop

Did a search. I found a few fax apps but none were freeware. Pdf scanner, Cortado Fax and Print, and a couple others. So far www.faxzero.com seems to be the best free option.

Re: Sprint Touch as a fax modem for pc/laptop

Sending faxes via your cellphone, using your phone as a fax machine, disappeared when cell phones went completely digital and stopped using the old analog frequencies. Fax machines are analog like the 54kbps modems. Faxing with voip is an issue too.

The last cell phone I owned that could be used like a fax was an LG510.

Faxzero works well if you don't need to fax a lot. I use them. One of my customers insists on me sending them an invoice by fax, I tried to convince to use email but they would not do it. Go figure.
