Sprint Touch as a fax modem for pc/laptop
The hTc Touch is my first wm phone and I'm loving it. With my old Samsung phones I've had in the past, i'm used to having them recognized as a modem (with the use of samsung drivers for pc) when plugged in with the usb cable. You then have to create a dialup connection and you can input a nbr for it to dial. The Touch however, is recognized as a ethernet device when used through internet sharing... or simply a mass storage device otherwise. Is there any way to have it detected as a modem so that I can send fax thru it using my laptop? I want to be able to do this without using any custom roms/ or 3rd party apps only stock microsoft or hTc apps/drivers. I've searched with no direct answer... any help or point in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

I'ld love to have that option too.
You think I can email Sprint Ecare and have them add that to the GPS/REV A upgrade. ;-) |

Re: Sprint Touch as a fax modem for pc/laptop
so you don't wanna do it this way:
scan-fax-using-camera-phone I only need to fax stuff out about 6 times a year, so I just have my phone line plugged into the modem in my desk PC, and print-to-fax. Should I ever have to fax when I'm on the road, I would remote desktop into my desk PC - and to make it easy I'd tether my notebook/laptop to the phone since I usually have it with me. |

Re: Sprint Touch as a fax modem for pc/laptop
I know this is an like a year old tread but are there any updates to this problem?
I use Alltel with a HTC-touch. I love it but I would love it more if I could send a fax or at the very least link it to mt laptop and "phone as Modem" to dail out a faxnumber. maybe with those "print to fax" options or something simple like that. Most of us don't have a land line anymore but still need to send a fax every now and then to those stone aged companies still require fax for various things. I mean God, who want to pay a fee for a e-service when then only need to fax a couple dozen times a year? Please list any ideas of what to try. Thanks for the help, Evan |

Not gonna happen without a third party service like efax.
