Re: For Some Reason Im In Africa? GPS Problem
Yea for whatever reason it'll default to weird places. I was off of the coast of Nigeria near Africa (in the water) when i zoomed out in google maps until the GPS actually kicked in. Unless of course it says GPS Active (X) and x = a number greater than 0... in that case.. I'm not sure.. I'd guess you've discovered a rip in the time/space continuum and/or something is weird with the drivers. If it says (0) then its not picking up the sats... give it some more time to lock... or soft reset and then try again. Then you also might want to try a hard reset, maybe uninstal/reinstall the drivers, reflash the alltel rom then reflash whatever rom you want to try, or look around and see what others have been doing to get the GPS to work.

Re: For Some Reason Im In Africa? GPS Problem
Google maps shows location before it gets a fix, and if you notice, the location it's showing is in the ocean on the equator (all zeros).
If you try a different program like VisualGPSce or GPStest, you'll see that it is still trying to get a lock at that point. Give it some time, and if you can get a real lock, google will magically teleport you to you dry land ![]() |

Re: For Some Reason Im In Africa? GPS Problem
I have the same thing until a lock.
however now I can't even get a lock. even during a 20 minute car ride to work with the touch sitting up in the front widow with a clear view of the sky. does anyone have suggestions on how to get a lock?

The same thing happened with the mogul. |

Well, has anyone tried to look into the mogul files and see what is missing. (drivers, reg entries, startup apps, etc.) |

Re: For Some Reason Im In Africa? GPS Problem
Well, I think these are the same files that were used with the hacked Mogul prior to the official release. NOT files that were pulled from the official release after it was working stable. I could be wrong though.

Re: For Some Reason Im In Africa? GPS Problem
Hate to say this, but my Mogul does the same thing sometime with the released update.
The GPS antenna/chip in these phones is weak, and needs to be still for a long time to get a fix. Once it locks, it's good-to-go, but I oftentimes cannot get a fix at all while driving... |
