This problem doesn't exist on the Sprint Touch.
I'm trying to get my friend into making custom roms, but if he has to talk to tech support after every new rom, I think it will get old, quick.
I had the authentication problem once, when I flashed one of the first custom roms before the Vogue kitchen. Since then I've flashed at least three custom roms from others, and many that I've built with the kitchen, without authentication problems.

Is there a way I can revert back to the Verizon image?
did you flash to a 3.37.+ radio first (after flashing the 2.31 unlocker)?

Re: Verizon VX6900 - Altell ROM

btw GPS Speed Sentry software seemed to work better for me than GPSViewer.
or at least better interface. Can get a lock consistantly within a couple minutes (and if not which happened once, a soft reset seems to help and finds satellites quicker again.).

i scratched my PDAs screen somehow after a couple weeks of use haha. I might try to use Scratch Doctor at circuit city to try to get it off as a verizon sales rep recommended for touchscreen, but i was a little scared to do this on touchscreen, hehe will this work?

and afterwards buy a protector... any regular ole photocamera screen scratch protector screens work well with touchscreens?

i read there might be a plastic/digitizer already on top of the LCD based on this post on similar xv6700, which scares me a bit haha, dont wanna buy a part and install it hehe...
"Having actually cut my screen, I think there's a protective plastic layer above the touchpad above the lcd. The top layer is bonded to whatever is under it, judging by pictures of internals. Also, I think the touchpad and LCD might be a single unit - but I have no clue. So, you could buy a replacement, spend an hour to replacing it yourself; send it to a service center for ($65?); or spend $3 and 30 seconds on a screen protector."

I think I may know why. The only time you need to re-authenticate the phone is when you mess with the radio. If you have the stock Verizon rom and hard reset, and letting customization run, a file call radio-refurb.cab will run and this will actually erase the AKey on the phone, this is one reason you have to re-authenticate after a hard reset.

Reason #2 is when you flash the Alltel rom, or the Sprint leak rom to update the radio to rev.A and gps. This will also erase the Akey and the phone will require to re-authenticate.

Simply flashing a different rom, or using the kitchen WILL NOT erase the Akey, as these do not touch the radio portion. So once you get the radio updated to a 3.xx version, you can flash whatever rom you like without re-authenticate again.
This post has been thanked 1 times.

Makes sense, but I flashed to new radios twice (to the alltel 3.37.10, and then to sprint 3.37.15), but only had to get re-authenticated after the first flash. Just an observation.
