Memory leak somewhere

Hi,

I've had the Touch for a few months now but recently I've been experiencing a slowdown and my Touch battery is constantly warm/hot.

There is nothing running except the key lock and the Cube yet every time I check the memory, it goes down until the Touch just locks up. The whole time the battery gets warm.

Would anyone have suggestions on what might be going wrong?

Thanks,

DD

The more info you can give us the better....Ie apps installed, apps running, is it a stock rom? Factory battery? Run task manager and list the top resource hogs. If you don't have many apps installed I would recommend backing up your contacts and hard resetting

Re: Memory leak somewhere

Hi,

The ROM is stock so is the battery. The only programs running are S2U2, battery meter, touchpad and Vista Cube. I've done alot of the tweaks suggested here like the battery tweak, etc. so I'm not inclined to doing a hard reset just yet.

Memory available usually starts out at 60% but gradually works its way down to 0% until the unit locks up completely. I've also noticed the battery is quite warm. When I have the Touch in my pocket and idle (screen off) its still warm and the battery wears down quickly. On the flip side, I've also had occasions when my battery would still be at 80% after 8 hours of standby. None of this makes sense to me.

Re: Memory leak somewhere

You are running very common apps so I would suspect a registry tweak?

Does Task Manager show any app taking up too much CPU or memory? You could start removing apps, or tweaks one at a time to determine who is the problem child.

Worst case, hard reset. If you are having the issue, it's a hardware issue and I'd try to get a replacement. If it's running o.k. start adding apps or tweaks one at a time with enough time between to determine there's no problem.

Good Luck.

Re: Memory leak somewhere

Did you do the slow ringer fix? If you set Slot Cycle Index to 0 It will kill your battery
