Anyone heard any news on the Imageon Drivers issue??

I, as well as all of you, have been dealing with the imageon drivers issue since I got this phone and am personally getting seriously tired of the sub-par performance of Sprint's "Top of the line" phone.

I own 4 PPCs. I own a T-Mobile MDA(Wizard), Sprint PPC-6700(Apache), Sprint Touch(Vogue), and HTC Touch Dual(Nike).

The Wizard has a 200MHz processor. 2-3 years old
The Apache has a 400MHz processor. 2-3 years old
The Vogue has a Qualcomm 400MHz MSM7500 dual core processor. owned 3 months
The Nike has a Qualcomm 400MHz MSM7200 dual core processor. just bought 2 weeks ago

Now someone please explain to me why my 2-3 year old phones, especially the Wizard which only has a 200MHz processor, is outperforming my Vogue and Nike? I can't believe it.

I know why they are performing better. It's because they were manufactured right. The drivers for their hardware was included...

On my Vogue with the original ROM as well as every custom ROM I have tried, I get major lag if I receive an SMS while actually using the device for something other than as a phone.

On my Wizard and Apache when I have slide2unlock installed, I can actually slide and unlock while receiving a text without any lag but when using my Nike and Vogue, I have to wait at least 2 seconds to unlock my phone after receiving a text.

The newest version of slide2unlock has the ability to control slide2play when the device is locked given slide2play is running in the background. My Wizard and Apache which only have 64MB of RAM can handle slide2play running and playing a song while unlocking my device better than my Vogue and Nike.

If I have a song playing on my Nike or Vogue, I cannot really navigate the phone without having to wait for the rediculous lag since the phone cannot handle the additional strain. Why is it that my Apache and Wizard can?

When I had Wisbar Advance 2 installed on my Wizard it ran great. No real lag at all. The same goes for my Apache. Why is it that when I click on the start button on my Vogue or Nike it seems to take forever to respond to the screen tap and open the cascading start menu when using Wisbar?

Short and sweet, I'm really getting tired of the lacking performance issues on these 2 phones that are supposed to be real power houses when it comes down to it... One of the guys I work with has a Tilt and has noticed the same thing on his and I know it has to do with the same bull**** reason my 2 "High End" phones are performing like ***...

Does anybody know if we are any closer to actually having our devices perform like they were built to? I have been over to htcclassaction.org but it seems like they are just wasting their time over there. They are never going to get anywhere. HTC and Qualcomm are just too large of corporation and as long as their call centers are the ones receiving the complaints, nothing will ever happen as far as delivering any real updates. That said... It's all up to us to fix our own equipment.

Anybody up to the task?

Re: Anyone heard any news on the Imageon Drivers issue??

Are you sure video drivers are going to fix lag? I suppose they would probably help paint the screen faster, but I'm not sure if that's the complete cause of the lag you're describing.

I used to have the Apache as well, but ended up dumping it in less than a year because I thought it was such a sluggish, unusable pig. Are there newer roms for it now that speed it up?? There must be because I would say my Touch is considerably faster. After dumping my Apache I went to the Treo 700wx which was an order of magnitude faster than the Apache despite having a slower CPU. Sadly, I would say my Touch is no faster/responsive than the 700wx was even though it also has a much faster CPU, more RAM, and is running WM6. (which I presume has had some performance tuning done to it relative to WM5)

I'm know this place is full of HTC fans, but in my experience I'd take Palm's "mojo" with software any day over HTC. They really understand how to make WM usable - and performance is a major component of usability. HTC just doesn't get this. (yet)

Believe it or not htc makes the palm 700wx too.

I feel your pain, but what do you suggest we do about it?

The touch is heads and shoulders faster than the 700wx

www.htcclassaction.org

And NO there are no drivers to speak of at this point. It's basically a wait and see approach.

Right, but I'm talking about the software not the hardware.

Keep in mind when I say "fast", I'm referring to the UI responsiveness: how quickly I can switch between apps, how quickly I can scroll through a list, etc, etc. For those things, the Touch is absolutely NOT faster at all. I've got my Treo 700wx in front of me right now and I'm comparing it to my Touch. Trust me, they're very close. And this is while using SPB Pocket Plus on my Treo. If I disabled that and went to the standard Today screen, it might be even be faster than the Touch.

Now, if you were to use some type of benchmarking software to see how many calculations per second each device could do then I'm sure the Touch would win since it's got a faster proc. But from a UI "quickness" standpoint, they're on par. Given the hardware differences, this is disappointing.

I have already been there, read EVERYTHING, and determined it to be a major waste of time...

Perhaps a stock 700wx is faster than a loaded touch, but stock to stock or customized to customized the touch is vastly faster in my experience running spb mobileshell, especially while multitasking. my wife still ahs the 700wx and I cant stand to use it anymore

I've got a loaded Treo and an almost stock Touch. I'll be doing a hard-reset soon on my Treo and I'll re-test then, but given how close they are now I'm guessing a stock Treo 700wx might edge out the Touch. I owned my Treo for 18 months, so when switching to the Touch I was very aware and sensitive to speed and responsiveness changes relative to what I had been using. I heard many reviews about how fast the Touch was, and maybe that plays a role in my disappointment as I really saw no speed advantage at all after switching. Not to be a Palm snob as I really do like my Touch, but I think most of the people who rave about the Touch's speed came from other HTC devices. (like the Apache) The Treo 700 switchers aren't as impressed.
