Re: HTC Touch Tethering over Bluetooth (Sprint)
When I am in places where I have limited space such as client meetings in conference rooms, or using my laptop mount in my car, I would like to be able to do it wirelessly over BT. Speed is not always a factor, but the ability to Sametime or get email through my VPN is. I have a PAM plan so should be able to do it just fine without any special tweaks that the Vision plan user have. Just not been able to figure out how to get it to work.

Re: HTC Touch Tethering over Bluetooth (Sprint)
Oh, i gotcha. Also, i found this thread on another forum. I did not read it in its entirety, and i know its for the 6700, but i assume it would quite similar, if not the same. Or at least get you going in the direction...

Re: HTC Touch Tethering over Bluetooth (Sprint)
Thanks for the link and your help. Too bad I have XP
I also noted in the thread that 3.x roms no longer have DUN (which seemed to be what I already found) and only Bluetooth PAN. I spent about 30 min at Sprint this evening trying to get info on how to set this up and they did not know either. Hell, I would be happy if someone could tell me how to get bluetooth PAN to work. I did find the following link which I will test shortly: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=11146 If this does not work, then I may just exchange for an Instinct, Palm 800W; or, go back to my EVDO REV A card and just add a cheap phone. I just need to be able to have my lappy access the internet without wiring up on the road or in meetings. The card is honestly the best performing, but requires me to have 2 contracts vs just 1 with a phone + PAM plan. |

Re: HTC Touch Tethering over Bluetooth (Sprint)
Thanks for that link above!! I was trying to get bluetooth tethering to work on my Verizon XV6900 and couldn't get it to work. If I went to my phone in my bluetooth devices on my laptop dial up network was not an available service. I installed the DUN cab file (which I'll attach to this message) on the XV6900, ran it, then reset the phone, erased my phone from my bluetooth devices on the laptop and readded it - and wala dial up networking was now an available service. Then I just added a dial up connection through bluetooth and was up and running.

Re: HTC Touch Tethering over Bluetooth (Sprint)
I had no problem tethering over BT with a mini-usb BT module I bought from Frys and the latest Rev A rom. Connected right away with no tweaks or hacks. USB cable also works with no problem. Not sure why people are having problems.

I actually had the option of BT DUN before I installed this cab, and after installing that it no longer shows up, even after uninstalling it.

Re: HTC Touch Tethering over Bluetooth (Sprint)
Thanks for the info Steve. I tried some of the steps last night but still could not see DUN. I have since uninstalled and reinstalled the BT stack on my Thinkpad T61p and am in the process of updating OMJ's rom to the latest. Once completed, I will test with the cab posted above.
