Neither of these yet work with Android on the vogue. Drivers need to be built for them.

Re: Android For The Vogue Is Here!!!

I just upgraded Android to the Dec 2nd version, and I'm having data trouble, tried starting data in WM first, to no avail.

Help please.

Re: Android For The Vogue Is Here!!!

This probably has already been answered, but I'm just a little too lazy to sift through 50+ pages of posts to figure this out.

I would install Android in a heart beat if I knew a couple things:

1. If it's not working 100% for me, can I still boot my WM with all my data intact? Is WM left intact on the device?

2. Is there a way to keep all my data such as contacts and phone numbers?

3. If WM is left intact, is Android running on top of WM or does it boot like a dual boot setup would?

If anyone could answer that for me it would be great. Thanks.

Re: Android For The Vogue Is Here!!!

So...yeah I just updated to the newest rom from bell via the HTC site. I used the CAB to install android to my storage card, then I started it up. Seemed fine. Camera does not work even though the update said it should. Its all black. The data/browser does not work even after starting PIE prior to the startup. Any suggestions? Oh and sometimes it just turns my phone off. I think that happened when I tried to use the camera.

yes, very lazy

I would install Android in a heart beat if I knew a couple things:

1. If it's not working 100% for me, can I still boot my WM with all my data intact? Is WM left intact on the device?
Yes, it does not affect Windows Mobile. As far as I can tell, it works like a bootloader, or Hard SPL... It removes WM from memory, and starts it's own stuff. It's not as though you are running a program over WM, or a skin, or similar.

2. Is there a way to keep all my data such as contacts and phone numbers?
You could theoretically back up your contacts to some compatible file, and restore them each time--if I remember correctly, you lose everything each time you reset the phone. Isn't there some sync utility in Android?

3. If WM is left intact, is Android running on top of WM or does it boot like a dual boot setup would?
See above.

If anyone could answer that for me it would be great. Thanks.

Re: Android For The Vogue Is Here!!!

Got it working pretty easily using the cab installer. It's buggy, but it has a ton of potential.

Looking forward to future releases.

Try a few different builds. The newest one supposedly has data troubles.

Uninstall and delete absolutely everything before trying a new build however.

Everyone: the method to install Android w/o using the cab is both EASY, and IN THE OP

Re: Android For The Vogue Is Here!!!

I tried the 12/02/2008 build, and the camera causes the phone to reboot and go back to Windows.

I read that you don't have to modify his startup file to get data working on Sprint, but mind did not work either.

Does anyone know if you can do full Exchange ActiveSync in Android?

Re: Android For The Vogue Is Here!!!

Actually I tried it the manual way with the newest version and my data works perfectly. Gps works somewhat...the "my location" thing is way off in the states despite how I am in Canada, Ha. Everything works fine, no random resets or anything of the sort. The only issue I am finding is its inability to detect my mp3 files stored on my card. I have them in a folder called Music, yet the music player says no songs. I even had a song in the root...but well, that did not do anything either.

I went into settings and undocked my card then went back to music and then it said "Searching sd." Then it says SD error. Go figure. So then I eject the card, put it in and to no surprise it cant read it and the system crashes. Lol the files are on the card afterall. Gah.
