Make sure you do what rstoyguy says to do in posts 3 and 4 of this thread. Also, after you do the reg edits save and exit your reg editor. Then wait a min or two. Then if you have one, use a software soft reset to soft reset. Then after you boot up check and make sure the edits stuck.

Re: How to turn off predictive text in 6.1 threaded sms??

GOT IT!

HKLM > System > CurrentControlSet > Control > Layouts > e0010409

replace string Ime File > *none*

and also string Layout Text > *none*

restart device and wait a few hours (as i said, a few hours, then it should be deactivated)

but there is a catch. you cannot input special characters besides that printed on your QWERTY.

original:

Ime File > compime.dll

Layout Text > COMP IME

Re: How to turn off predictive text in 6.1 threaded sms??

Thanks a million! The guys at Sprint said this was impossible. I joined the forum so I could say thanks! The predictive typing slowed down my texting and was just plain annoying.

Tried that on my Htc tilt 8925 but didn't work. I tried a disable xt9 cab file that was recommended but that doesn't work either. I changed a setting so that predictive text isn't supposed to enter until the tenth letter, but that didn't work. Of course I have predictive text unchecked in input settings. Any other ideas?
