Overloading your calendar?

This may be a silly question.

In the last two days, I have found that when I attempt to load the stock WM calendar, the program loads, but then freezes.

I hard reset my ppc and the problem goes away. HOWEVER, if I hard reset, then sync, the problem immediately returns (e.g. if I open the calendar in "week view" and I attempt to scroll through appointments, the calendar freezes).

Because this happens immediately following a hard reset + syncing, it seems to me that SOMETHING syncs between my PPC and the my desktop to cause the lockup. Any ideas? Is it possible that I have too many appointments (past and present) overloading the calendar? if so, how can I delete my past appointments to free up space? Any help is appreciated.

Re: Overloading your calendar?

There should be a setting in the active syns to only add events back so far. I know there was when using active sync with exchange at work. You might try lowering in down. I think it is available from the options within active sync on the phone. I think the max is 2 weeks, but you can try lower.

Okay, but for future reference, is there any way to delete old appoints/tasks etc. off my ppc to prevent this frm happening again?

I don't know of a way to delete all old, but you can delete them ind. Or you might try deleting all old from comp and then syncing to remove them.

Re: Overloading your calendar?

Quick update: This was a very odd situation. I finally determined (through numerous hard resets and a few hours) that my lockups were the result of a single appointment.

For some reason, if I used the default calendar in "week view", and attempted to use the D-pad to navigate through appointments, my device would freeze on the very same appointment. I have no idea why. I'm thinking that it may have been due to all the text listed in the "notes" area of the appointment (it was a seminar with a long meeting title).

I deleted it and my problems resolved *shrug*.

Re: Overloading your calendar?

That is a little bizarre. You would think it could handle it. Who knows.

Re: Overloading your calendar?

still. is there any way to purge old items on my cell phone calendar without deleting stuff on the original calendar-because I'm using gooSync and don't wanna delete my old google calendar appointments? even if it's a program-that'd work too

Re: Overloading your calendar?

I haven't seen anything other than telling it to only sync the past x amount. I think it should remove anything before that though. Might give it a shot. Although that setting may not be in gooSync, it is in active sync
