Yahoo Mail on HTC Touch

Hello Everyone,
I have a question about Yahoo email. I have set up Gmail and my business email on Go Daddy on my HTC Touch using POP3 and they work great. I have them set up to check for email every five minutes. I know Yahoo (FREE ACCOUNT) does not support POP3. Is there a way I can have the phone check my Yahoo emails. I dont think it can happen but I am not sure. I know I can use the browser to check my email and I do that every 2 or so hours but it is a pain.

Thank you for your help.

Re: Yahoo Mail on HTC Touch

You can use IMAP4 with settings like this:

<parm name="SERVICENAME" value="Yahoo!" />
<parm name="SERVICETYPE" value="IMAP4" />
<parm name="INSERVER" value="imap.mail.yahoo.com" />
<parm name="OUTSERVER" value="smtp.mobile.mail.yahoo.com" />

Note this is taken from my email provxml, but you should get the idea.

THANK YOU thiS WORKED FOR ME. i tried it some time ago but didn't work, but since i tried this again today, when i create an account put your username and password and select try to get e-mail settings automatically from the internet. If it doesn't work, then skip that step.
Select your email provider, in yahoo, just select internet email.

Enter your name and the name of the account you want it to display as.

Input the Information vboyz103 gave us.

Incoming mail server : imap.mail.yahoo.com
Account type: imap4

Type in your email username and password again.

Outgoing: put smtp.mobile.mail.yahoo.com
(in that same page, select Advanced server settings on the bottom of the page)
on network selection, select your network connection. (if you have metropcs select the connection you created.) select done.

Decide every when you will send receive emails.

It will ask you for your password and it will connect.

Re: Yahoo Mail on HTC Touch

If you want to use the built in email program you will have to upgrade Yahoo Mail so you can have POP3 access................. or

Or get YAHOO MOBILE

Re: Yahoo Mail on HTC Touch

I added a Yahoo account through the mail program that comes with the Touch and mine works fine. I just put in my ID and password and it found the settings automatically. Works just fine.

Re: Yahoo Mail on HTC Touch

Thank you for all your inputs. I do not want to pay extra for the yahoo premium account at this time.

I have to learn how the IMAP4 works so I can set it up.

About using the yahoo mail using the email software, I dont this it will work with the free yahoo account. Ami I wrong? I guess I have to try and see if it will work.
Thanks

I had just said that the free account works fine! You don't have to pay for any type of premium account!

Re: Yahoo Mail on HTC Touch

I have Yahoo mobile on my Touch... There are a few things that i REALLY hate about using Yahoo Mobile.

1. When i log in to check my email, it takes way too long to sync w/my Yahoo account. To further explain, when i click on the mail icon.... It is not true sync w/my yahoo account until i have to click on "options" then "check email" button. I have to do this 3 times before it syncs up w/my email from Yahoo.

2. I tried using the automatic syncing, but it doesn't work.

3. I cannot delete the emails using Yahoo Mobile. If i click on delete, it'll delete it, BUT it'll come back for some reason.

4. Cannot view any attachments at all.

incoming: imap.next.mail.yahoo.com
outgoing: smtp.mobile.mail.yahoo.com

hope this helps for anyone that was having trouble..

oh in outgoing, in the bottom click advanced server settings and in network connection make sure you use the network your provider gave you or the network you made
