Re: Call Tones

Ok, since I work "for Sprint" in a way, the technical reason is that Windows Mobile based phones CANNOT access the content manager; ie: calltones, ringtones, wallpapers, etc.

There was a member that posted that his Treo 700p worked with the Content Manager. This is because it is Palm based, and not WinMo. Hope this helps.

Re: Call Tones

Me too man, me too.

On a side note, while on the phone with a tech rep from Sprint for a customer issue, we had a chance to discuss Sprint and their support for WinMo. He told me to expect by the end of the year an update for most WinMo based phones to enable the content manager. All I had to say was HALLELUJAH!!!

Re: Call Tones

Good luck with that. The funny part is that on the Touch under java there is a calltones link that takes you to PIE. It comes up with an error thought. I think this is something that could be implemented on Sprints side without the need for a ROM update. Simply allow access to it. All the other phones have is a web browser that sucks compared to ours. Ours should do it.

That's why I said what I said. It's a Sprint server based thing. They just need to turn it on. It's surprising that us power users provide good revenue for the company, but they won't let us access the cool things like call tones. Ick.

Re: Call Tones

Sprint must truly believe only serious business professionals use their PPC line of phones because for them not to include with it picture messaging sprint tv and music on the mogul and contect manager? boy are they wrong.

Re: Call Tones

Business users provide the most use by far, but the consumer use is increasing more and more everyday. I would look for more consumer based models in the future.

Kaos - thanks to your reposting of the Wideawake fix, I got call tones working on my Mogul. You are the man. Follow this outline exactly as it is posted, and it will work. One addition to the procedure, though, is to make sure that you change the access number to your Sprint connection (#777) to something else temporarily (I changed mine to 0) before you connect via the CallTones connection. Also make sure that wifi is turned off. This prevents another connection from becoming active and taking you to the wrong vision site.

It works, 100% guaranteed. I have never had a call tone on a phone before, and it is pretty damn slick. Sprint has a ton of them to choose from.

Re: Call Tones

sweet man glad it worked for you....I was going to try it as well. But to be honest.I use my phone for business slash personal...I can't have a customer call and get sexual seduction by snoop dog...lol I always wished sprint would let its users do custom call tones...So i could have like a company slogan play when calling...Or something like hello thank you for calling "business name" Someone will be with you shortly.slogan after...I think personal ones would rock.
